PH

i have never ever bothered with PH and i seem to have got away with it.

i found out today that where i live the tap water is 7.2 PH. is this ideal? (i grow in soil)

now working for a swimming pool firm i have access to ph test kits with tabs, proper PH + / -
so i can make adjustments if needed.

i know people test the water before watering and also the run off after watering. what do i want to be doing?

Your pH is a little high, ideal for nitrogen absorption/marijuana is 5.8-6.5. So i would aim for more like 6.1.
Good luck :)

That sounds true, but I would say for a hydro grow, not soil. 6.5 to 7 is ideal for soil.
if theres one thing i do know about PH with plants is that they like it higher in hydro, around a 7 - 7.5. anyways i'm in soil. and have just read from a reliable source that anything over 7 is a no no and between 6.5 and 6.8 is ideal.

Typically plants like it higher in soil, lower in hydroponics. Acceptable hydro range is usually 5.5-5.8 or slightly more acidic than most soils which are around 6.5.

Also, if you're growing in healthy, living, properly amended soil there is really no need to fuss over pH.
