View attachment 1553182View attachment 1553184so i have this small 3 x 2 x 5 cabinet, doin 3 plants in it rt now that i purchased from the dispensary, mh for veg and hps for flower, 400 watts....im using foxfarm and its working great but i was thinking about adding a little perlite to the soil next time...thats not a big deal is it???..i dont like to mess with the soil but it seems like this time around the soil gets a little waterlogged when i feed heavy ever 3 days or so...should i or leave it alone?im always here and i dont mind the soil getting dryer faster, i can water more often if need be... does anyone do a minor medium alteration like this?...this might be a total newbie question but im just curious, thanks guys...

Your good. FF has a little perlite in it. Just make sure you have good drainage. In the future you can throw a couple of handfuls of perlite if it makes it easier for you. It's more aless a personal preference. Good luck, jethead

thanks bro, i kinda figured the same thing but i dunno, thought more perlite would promote more root growth since it makes it more airy down there.....??

Your welcome, Perlite helps hold moisture. Just FYI , I'm mixing FF Happy Frog with 1/3 Just Right Extra. Highly recommended by the grow store dude. Tons of different bios in their including mykos for root enhacement. I also use a tbls. of pure Mykos about 6 inches below the top of the medium. Works great. Good luck, jethead

I use perlite for that reason, better drainage, better root breathing...hope that makes sense, roasting a fat bowl here

do some research on "Dr. Earth" soil. Its FoxFarm x10. Also if im not mistaken it even has perlite in it. 50lb bag for $15, its good shit.

Mazand. I use fox farm ocean forest with the big perlite chucks. 75% soil and 25% perlite in a 3 gallon conatiner. I dont feed for the first month just plain water. I only use big bloom with molasse for flowering. the end result is plants almost 3 foot tall. An oz and half per plant. I grew 6 under a 400 watt hps. Hope that helps.

thats helps cassino, thanks...i do the same thing, i use fox farm OF and also dont feed for first month, except when i use nutes its flora nova bloom w/ molasses...my only constraint is cabinet size cause my dumbass didnt know how big they would get so i got the smaller cabinet thinking it would be ok, not the case,lol....i can only fit 3 in there...maybe 2 next time and lst them???...not sure yet...

moma thats exactly what i was thinking, so adding a small handfull of perlite to my fox farm OF soil WOULDNT be a bad idea then?....PS, u have really pretty eyes if thats urs in the avatar,lol

currently, im using fox farms happy frog, mixed at about 20% with vermiculite. helps alot with the run off, and isnt so fluffed it drys in a day. im watering wed and fri and feeding sundays.

I, too, am a bit of a water junkie. When I grew organic with Roots Organic I added as much as 50% perlite. As long as you use very large containers and water often, you'll do great. I have had much better results using large amounts of perlite as opposed to less. I like to blend a soil that makes over watering impossible. That way, if I have a problem, I know to water the hell out of them and then give em a light feeding.
