can i run a 360 watt hps conversion bulb in my 250 mh ballast? i know it wont actually use the 360 but wouldnt it put out more light than the 230 watt conversion bulb which is only 25000 lumens?

im figuring if i run the 360 watt light it would actually be puting out 250 watts of light, instead of running the 230 hps and only putting out 230 watts of light. im not sure if this is correct though.

Normally you can't run a HPS on a MH ballast because of the ignitor but if its a conversion bulb you should be able to although you would be better off getting the right equipment to prevent problems.

Idk, but be safe. I would consult a professional before doing ANYTHING that wasn't specified in the manufacturer's instruction. Just a fire-safety thing with me.

the 360 is designed for a 400 watt ballast it is what i run on some of mine get the right bulb dont fuck around with it
all conversion bulbs have a drop from ballast ratings but u need to get the 230

it wont cause a fire but it is not going to run right
if u use a lower watt rated bulb with ballast hten u have fire from exploding bulbs but if u put 250 into 360 bulb u have weak bulb

I'd stick with the 230. Don't risk causing a fire for the 360..

I doubt a conversion bulb would even strike without the required wattage spike.using just straight mh through all stages would work much better

I use a Hortilux 150w Hps conversion bulb in my 175w MH ballast.

The only thing is. I have to thump it with my finger or it will not Ignite somtimes.

Conversion bulbs are expensive also..

Im talking about using mh all the way through, despite what some might try to tell you MH do work for flowering, in fact most 12+week sativas wont finish properly under straight HPS. Is it ideal, no but ive dont it when my conversion bulbs crap out but i use phosphor coated MHs and they provide a little more natural light but not as many lumens

well i actually was planning on using my mh all the way through its 4000k so i figured it would be a little better for flowering. but i just found this deal i cant pass up i posted the link on the first page. i figured for that price why not.

by the way im growing 4 autos under this light 3 bast bud and an il diavolo. the fast buds are getting huge too. i wasnt planning on having 3 foot tall auto plants but by the looks of it i think its gonna happen lol. im not getting the penetration i wanted with this light. i hope the extra lumens from the hps will help. im about 6-7 weeks in and i think im about half way done by the looks of them.

i also have a white widdow x big bud and a tutoncomon (spelled wrong?) next to them under 125 watts of cfls. i wish i could get my 600 under them, but that was a no go in my 2x3 space. i did try though. i was also thinking of adding an extra 150 hps in there to replace the cfls. but im not sure.

even if i get the conversion bulb i still want to get another light too. 250 watts isnt enough for my space. thats why im suplementing with 125 watts of cfls. ive got 4 plants under my 250 mh and 2 plants under cfls. im saying that id like to replace my cfls with a 150 hps. then maybe just use the mh instead of getting the conversion bulb for mixed spectrum.
