So is $2000 enough for a grow?

What do you recommend getting?

Would that be plenty for say 3-10 plants?

Use a bunch of it on some really good seeds like Mr. Nice, Soma, Reserva Privada so that you don't waste your time growing garbage.

2000 ? really not even close i think im in my stuff less then 500 topps. but i went as cheap as i could too start out and will buy more is i go dont buy every thing and have an amazing grow system cause if your not a grower or have the green thumb then your fucked. start with the minimum and work your way up veg lights either shop light florescences, or switchable HM and HPS lighting system. 400 to 1000 watt. clone machine cheap works fine too, got mine for 80 bucks its a 8 site great for small grower like myself its a daisy cloner. find out if your growing hdryo or soil im in soil so cant help on the hydro systems but i think i might make the heap soon little fan from the store 12 or so dont need too get too crazy but you can. ebay is also a great place too start looking and safe some cash. but you can also go out and spend that money on top of the line every thing and still need more so figure out what and how you want to go about it. home work time.

oh and by the way......................... happy 420 day

$2000 is plenty to get set up unless you need to construct a room or cabinet. What kind of system do you want to use? perpetual harvest or single run? what are you goals with this grow? personal smoke or do you want to make a little money?

Lets see.

Ballast and sealed cooled reflector here for $280 with free shipping http://www.urbansunshine.com/index.p...ducts_id=18512

Tent here for $95 free shipping http://cgi.ebay.com/Hydroponic-Mylar...item2eb480f6f5

Bulb here for $65 + $10 shipping http://www.ezhydroshop.com/products/...tput-Bulb.html

Smart pots are around $3.50 a piece x 6, happy frog is $9 a bag, cheap nutes would run you $20 total and ducing + tape another $20.

That's $657.00. Could set up 3 of these tents for 2k.

Well if its your first grow you probably wouldnt want to go all out yet.. There is a lot to learn that can only be learned by experiance.

A few nuggets of advice

Dont skimp on the light(I dont mean cost I mean Watts) you will just end up buing another one later on, get a cool tube, and dont skimp on ventilation(may I highly suggest a Panasonic Whisper Inline) and get an appropriate sized carbon filter. Also if you go with a tent get a full height one not one of those 1/2 height, if you can fit it. You should pretty easily pull a lb with a 4x4 and 1K.

Things that will annoy you are: running out of space, heat issues and smell.

with a good carbon filter and the right strain you wont ever smell it. stinkier strains will require a couple air fresheners around the house. if its for yourself figure out how much you smoke in a week, multiply that by 10 weeks (average turn around time), then add 50% cause you are gonna give a shit load away :D say you smoke a 1/2 oz a week, you would need to yield 5 oz each run to keep you in smoke. plus 50% you are looking at about a half pound per crop. if you have to start from seed your turn around will be about a month longer.

thats easily achievable with a 600w system. a 600w light plus all the fans costs about $40 a month to flower around here. if you have a reliable source for clones thats the way to go. if you don't, you may want to set up a veg space with a 400w for a mom or three and some floros for a clone tray. you could also use the same basic to run a perpetual grow and harvest about 1.5-2 oz per week.

with the budget you have, even building new cabinets and buying fancy seeds, you could build an awesome setup. the dude is right dont skimp on the lighting and ventilation. also dont get drawn in by the fancy pot growing nutrients. do your research and pick a fertilizer that suits you.

if you give us some specifics we can help you design a good system for fairly cheap. i have a couple basic designs made in google sketch-up that i can post if you like. some important things to consider when picking a space to set up a cab or small grow are ventilation, heat control, access to water, drainage, and access to the plants.

I spent somewhere around there for my setup. I am running a hydro setup with the ebb and grow system with 12 pots and a 55 gallon res which also came with Technaflora nutes. I have a Raptor air cooled hood, 1000 watt MH, 1000 watt HPS, Xtrasun ballast that runs my mh and hps bulb, 760 cfm fan with vents, a large carbon filter, stand up fan,....I think thats it... You can check out my journal it has pics of my setup in there.

How intense is the smell, like hide able ?
Get a carbon filter unless you want your house to reeeeeaak! My buddy just did a grow with 12 plants and no filter. His house stunk so bad and you could smell it outside.

My plants arent even in flower yet and they flippin reaaak but I have a filter so you cant smell it:)

im 2400 into my set up and i have 2 600w lights left to buy. im gonna total out around 3200, for a seedling//cloning tent 2x3, a veg tent 5x5 w a 400w mh, and a flower tent 4x8 needing the 2 600's. after all the nutes, ducting, extensiojn cords/other electrical stuff, there's alot of thing i didnt consider before starting. my best advise is make sure you got your knowledge in check. i budgeted for 2k, im going way over. but i also plant to run perpetual, 12 new plants every 6 weeks, 36 growing at once in different stages
