A few pH questions

Hi all!

Im attempting my second grow after a huge failure on my first attempt and believe it was down to my pH management . I'm growing in soil and this time im going to use a soil pH tester rather than a hydro tester. They gave me hydroponic pH up and down and a hydroponic water tester at the shop but will this work in soil?Could someone please give me the definitive answer on how to control my soil pH rather than spending hours sifting through other threads and articles on the net. Also im using tap water for my plants which is pH neutral out of the tap.

the ph tester you have for water should help you keep your ph where you need it, if it is calibrated correctly. Once you mix your nutrients into your water it is time to read your ph. Wherever it is you want to correct it to about 6.0. Use the ph up and down that you have in small increments as necessary to get the water to the desired level. If you continue to correct you ph after your nutrients are added you can rule out ph as a problem. Another method i put into practice is aerating my water for 24 hours before i use it, to evaporate any chlorine that may be present in the water.

most soils are have a ph around six. So if you keep your ph correct with your water you don't need to read the run off.

So what your saying is that i have to correct my water and nute solution with the ph up/down and the ph will stay as it should?
