HELP! Clone Trouble

I have been trying desperately to clone my plants and for the life of me they just wont root.First ill tell you my process then list the items used so here it goes.

i cut the clone no shorter than 3 inches tall i put it under water and cut it at 45 degree angle and scrape the side to reveal the second layer then insert into root gel let sit for at least 30 seconds then into my medium i then over each individual pot put a humidity dome which is mainly just a clear plastic cup that u get for July 4th and i melt a hole the size of a dime in the top so i get a bit of fresh air in but maintain humidity and i spray the dome once a day and i keep in 24 hr light in the shade of a leafy mother (yes Ive also tried 18/6)and they just never root even after weeks.

What Ive tried:
1.various types of soil 3-4 diff kinds ranging from MG to Fox river
2.tried rock wool and peat pucks and rapid rooters
3.tried plain tap water let sit for 48 hrs and bottled water
tried rooting gel, powder, even tried both together (also ranging from cheap to expensive kinds to no avail):wall:

EDIT: i have also tried using a heating pad to no avail

well first off how many times have you tried the same technique ? It seems like you are constantly changing the parameters and expecting the same result.... rock wool..... i have had trouble with other techniques i am most succesfull with rockwool .... your "humidity dome" is it home made or store bought? what is the temp your dome is stored ?what type cloning solution r u using? it seems your cutting technique is sound what kind of light is it under?

idk know if this could help but
1. with a razorblade, try exposing more area from the stem by scratching some of the sides of the stem,
2. try taking a clone a bit larger but leave only a couple of leafs(cut the larger leaves)
3. try to cut them off the plant like you normally would, put them in a container of water and recut the stem at a 45 degree angle and then quickly dip it in the solution, if you still have some.
4. i dont know the circumstances but try to keep the temps lower than 80.

i hope this helps.....

Hi ...sorry to hear your having problems .

Do you trim the fan leaves ? and do you have any means of making or buying a bigger humidity dome ?

A clear plastic lid with a hole in it on a cup might not be holding enough humidity .

How far away is your light ?..... What happens to your cuttings ( ie . do they wilt ...dry out ...turn brown ? )

It sounds like you have the cutting process figured out ... but your going wrong with the way you pot them ...they might not be getting the optimum conditions needed .

well they seem to wilt almost asap once i put em in the pots so ive tried to use a dome with no hole to trap in humidity and they jsut get all mushy and die anyways and i have tried a larger tray type dome to no avail aswell when i tried using Rockwool and rapid rooters.....

You made 4 posts within 10 minutes, all in this same thread. What kind of a moron are you? You've been having this problem for months but now all the sudden it's so urgent?

To reiterate: Give up, go away, grown up, try again in 10+ years.

this is 2 weeks after i took a clone from my ice cream right before i flowered
1st i cut it at a 45 degree angle an inch below a node
2nd i put it in a coco coir starter plug and watered with RO water
3rd i put it in a homemade humidity dome and watered daily
4th a week later i saw the first sign of a root and then i put it in some fox farm ocean forest soil
i had it under a 150 watt feliz cfl
i didnt use any hormones or rooting powder just plain water
have you tried more than one strain because some are more complicated than others to clone
you need patience and just let it be until it roots could take up to 2 weeks

hope this helps you out good luck man

Having the same (ish) problems. Air layering is worth a try, I'm waiting on mine. And strain is important, tried Blueberry Gum which I have just found out can be a tricky one..

the reason why they might wilt right away is that air got inside the stem......maybee you should consider making a DWC cloner..... (it costs less than 30 dollars )

honestly i have tried EVERYTHING except the DWC cloner and i dont really want to do it that way because im not really into the whole hydro side of things and the last thing i need is more things running on power. i dunno this whole thing is jsut a pain in my ass im inches away from quitting all together seems no matter how hard i try no matter what i do they jsut wont root
