The petition is for how trolls and those that respond to them are dealt with, punishment wise. Did you read the whole thread? (I don't blame you if you didn't) but it's to alter the rule so that long time members that do joke around by giving people shit aren't banned while the "troll" or "flamer" is allowed to continue doing what they do. All of us that sign this and/or that have been posting have seen that it isn't an attempt to make it okay to insult people, we are just trying to revise where "insult" and, well, I guess "defense" (for lack of a better word) differ and can be handled differently as well.

I think that this "petition" has kind of evolved into more of a raising awareness kind of thing, you know, like "Hands Are Not For Hurting" week in schools? Eventually, yes, the arguing and bitching will come back, but for right now we have been able to get the thread on a more positive note and agree on people voicing their opinion differently.

I am hoping that the positive posts that have been going on eventually spread around this forum and the burning takes a back seat for a bit, if I am going to be living in a country with Obama as president then I probably should learn to have some kind of hope, right? haha

No dude we are still defending each other, check out what not only I said to that Timah guy that tried flaming you, but also what budlover said to the guy too. We both defended you, we just didnt go about it by telling him to fuck off. As budlover stated it would just rile things up again and then everyone would be back to throwing shit on each other, right back where we dont want to be. As of right now the thread has seemed to be pretty positive and when people have needed to be dealt with it's gone about in a less confrontational way and more of an educational way.

Budlover13 even said he sees where you come from when you tell people to fuck off and everything, doesn't that show things have taken a couple steps forward?

Now what kind of attitude is that for a stoner? You mentioned the prohibition on weed quite a bit earlier in this thread so I am going to bring it back up for you.

The prohibition on marijuana has been going on for how long now? Quite a few fucken years now, and though they have been saying "marijuana should be legal in 5 years" since the 70's, it would almost seem like no movement forward has happened, yeah? Fast forward to now where there are multiple states that are now medically legal, some states are toning down their hunts for marijuana users, and there are ballots now that ONE () can can use to vote to possibly get marijuana legal, if not yet on a federal level, it's at least almost legal on a state level. Those small steps forward through years have become quite the movement, look how freely marijuana is advertised and talked about as compared to just 5 years ago.

Now, relate it on a smaller level to this thread. Yes, nothing big is going to happen overnight to where the trolls and burners are gone, BUT we can make small steps forward to correct where other members have gone wrong in feeding their fire, and hopefully discourage trolls from multiplying like mormon rabbits.

I am not saying you should change the way you go about responding to people, that's your choice man and who am I to try telling you to change it up. I will back you up full board when it comes to something that we both agree on and can see the greater cause in the end, I'm just gonna go about my defending it (and you) in my own way.

Herein lies the problem.

LostReff and i have been "self-moderating" this thread between RIU users and RIU mods. We made our positions clear, neutrally. The result? A few steps forward i think. AND me being on the damn computer for 5 hours moderating. i have laundry and yardwork to do as well as tend to my little green ladies(week 3 veg). BUT, when i walk away here shortly, I will walk away at peace knowing i did everything in my power to make RIU turn around a little and go back to this real cool place i keep hearing about that existed before i joined last year. It's still cool, but that less negative thing is the vibe i promise i will create.
