First grow. having problems

ok I have 4 plants that are all about 2 weeks old, all of them seem to be growing very slow if at all along with various other conditions. The plants are all in the same soil mixture soil and perlite. The soil is some brand called gordons with no additives what so ever I tried to get as sterile of soil as I could get mixed at a rate of 60% soil with 30% perlite. i had been watering with distilled water about 1oz every 2 days, but I was told that my routine was a bit excessive so I cut back. I also was told that distilled water lacked some beneficial microbes and that could have been the reason for my plants lack of growth, starvation. I watered them last night after waiting three days since my last watering with a mixture of superthirve, rooting hormone, and water at a concentration of 1mL superthrive, 1mL rooting hormone, and 1 gallon of water. Each individual plant got 1 small cap full of superthrive water and 1oz of tap water that was allowed to sit for ~48 hours. It was suggested that I water with a ¼ tps per gallon mixture of fertilizer, the only reason I used the superthrive water was because it was available.
That was yesterday. Plants 2,3,and 4 all seemed to take the superthrive water mixture and are looking much better today than they did yesterday the 2 plants that are acting like a venus flytrap (NUMBERS 2,3) have seemed to open up a little more though still not much. And #4 looked like its starting to grow its second set of leafs thought the tips are still a bit yellow. The first plant #1 looks very spindly and I believe it’s a result of overwatering.
The plants are in 16oz red beer cups with holes drilled in the bottom for drainage, and im using 5 42watt red spectrum CFL. I’m doing a 12/12 from seed at least until I can determine sex then i don’t know, one step at a time. Anyway what can I do to help my little babies along, and also this is my first grow I’m still learning so constructive criticism would be more helpful to me than the typical research-you-noob response.

#1 This is the plant appearing to be suffering from overwatering. its a mandala satori

#2 this is a Venus flytrap plant, mandala satori

#3 another Venus flytrap also a mandala satori

#4 and this last one is a nirvana White widow. this is the best looking of my plants despite its yellow tips probably due to overwatering.

id say a pain in the ass not even a paint more like minior gas. if you really wanted to be a pain i would of expected something with a little more thought, i mean common “die plants die”, that’s so passé been there heard that. I keep reading about stoners saying hey men, pot helps my thoughts flow more freely and this is the best you got? tisk tisk I am truly disappointed.

See that first plant, it just doesn’t like you and the leaning is a result of that. Its trying to get as far away from you as possible so it can go die in peace. you have [FONT='Verdana','sans-serif']FAILED[/FONT] (notice failed it capitalized, bold and italicized to further dramatize the point being made) and if the way you treated those plants is any indication as to how you live your life then you sit have [FONT='Verdana','sans-serif']FAILED[/FONT] (once again please take note, capitalized, bold and italicized) in that too. You sir are the reason for many problems in this modern era, you think you can do anything you want just because you soooo smart but you just endup fucking it all up. Well news flash buddy you cant, so go clean a toilet or whatever it is that you do to piss away you pathetic meaningless existence on this planet. And for the love of all that is good and rite in this world if some how you manage to come across some seeds anytime in the future kill them before you can do them any damage.

Now I personally would end my statement with “ass” at the very end just to make sure my point was well received. and The above response would have slightly modivated me to do something for maybe 15 minutes. Now onwards, mr or Mrs or Miss ѕψЫiмiиλ[Ł]™, I don’t know which applies to you but after all we do want equality towards our women don’t we? Anywho im I’ve got no choice; you have failed to impress me PATHETIC attempt, I shudder to think what you sound like when attempting to communicate with another human being….no no no im wrong again, that would be an increasing conversation (you and another person) it would be like I was back in elementary school. Id even expect to hear the work dingleberry at least 3 during the course of you conversation. But not all is lost, I do believe that a parrot or some sort of talking bird would be the perfect pet for you. Oh the fun, you two could spend hours imitating noises and words that each of you hear, might even learn a few new ones. Expand that vocabulary! might I suggest an African Gray parrot (psittacus erithacus) they are reputed to be the smartest of all parrots. but keep the dog away.

What the hell im a nice person, ill give you a second chance, Stun me, blow my socks off, dare I say impress me with you stunning manipulation and use of the English language.

I'm having the same problem with my plants, but i don't think it's overwatering, because i've let mine dry out for the past week and they seem to have just gotten worse despite not being watered. not sure yet though.

This has happened to both my grows and i'm very interested in what causes this. i've come across several people with the same problem but no one has a definite answer. i'll be visiting this thread a lot.

Hey I am a newbie but I will try to help. When you said you are doing a "12/12 from seed" does that mean you are only giving them 12 hours of light? If so , they need to be either under 18/6 or 24/7 (your pick -many have opinions on this topic). The 12/12 is only used at the flowering stage.
As far as lights, you may need some cool whites in there to give more of a blue spectrum. They use more blue in the veg stage more red in the flowering stage. I hope this helps. There may be more going on, but that is my initial thought.

Go 18/6 and no red you want bluish white light for veg, Red for flower. How far are the lights from plants and what are the rest of your paramaters?

farmerfriend-im doing 12/12 from seed to try and keep the plant height down i have a relitively small grow area whichis why i insuced flower early.

smitty- id thing that stitching the plant back to 18/6 would stress that plant to much. i did vegg them for about a week under daylight CFLs before putting them into flower. id much rather stabilize the plant in flower then if i need to move it back to the 18/6 cycle. would adding the daylight CFLs the the flower cycle be an option?


hansolo33 - not arrogant engineer. if someone’s gonna try and match wits with me by making some smart comment, im gonna give a smart commet rite back, has nothing at all to do with arrogance, i think im better than no one. I can do things you can’t and you most certainly can do somethings that I will never be able to do.
best way for me to describe my intentions behind my response is to tell you a little about myself something i dont do much of. to put it plainly im a nerd, im a huge nerd with not a lot of friends, while everyone else is out drinking and having a good ol time at parties, im sitting at home reading about chemistry something that i like, and absolutely love. i have been beaten made fun of all my life and the lesson ive taken away is that it that it doesn't pay to try and one up the other person, say well mr, or ms [FONT='Verdana','sans-serif']ѕψЫiмiиλ[Ł]™[/font] (still gotta be gender specific) i didn't want you opinion anyway yada yada yada. id get all worked up for nothing and nothing would get accomplished. i find it more entertaining to laugh about it turn the whole thing into one big joke. The method I use is a sort of roll reversal go from the one being poked to the one doing the poking. i have my own methods of doing such things and over the years ive perfected it, as much as I can, but it works. i must admit i did type that trying to bait the other person into saying something more but no such luck, time to move on. i consider it a personal challenge to look the person strait in the eye and smile, turn it into a fun game. now whether the other person can laugh about such things is their own issue, let them stress while i smile or he can smile with me. i do have one question though, have you ever read anything by George Carlin? i suggest doing so, theres a great line that i unfortunately have committed to memory,
"anyone who thinks that life is anything other than pure entertainment are missing the point"

Um your plants are not ready for flower they are way to young to even consider flowering they only have 2 leaves. 18/6 and stronger lights. IMO everything about this sounds wrong from jumpstreet, if youre trying to determine sex you still have a long ways to go. Read this ALOT
