First Scrog 11 Days after the Light Switch (w/ pics)

Sup RIU, Working on my first scrog grow here and wanted to get any sort of feedback from you guys in here.

-Im growing 6 plants in a 4x4x6.5 tent (2 master kush, 2 heirloom bubbas, 1 blueberry drem, 1 black domina)
-They are in supersoil mix (similar to subcools), 7 gal pots
-Vegged for 6 weeks, had a few minor defficiaency issues maybe lost a week or so.
-Made my own scrog, set 24" above tops of pots
-Realized scrog was too high for some of the bushier plants to reach
-Put the shorter plants on cinder blocks to raise them into the screen
-Lights were switched 11 days ago
-night temps 65-70, day temps 70-80, humididty 35-55%
-Feeding 6.5 ph RO water with some superthrive and some mollasses

So whats next? Should I trim the under growth? I figure the stretch from the light switch is pretty much done as they say majority of the growth happens 10 days after light switch. so im not sure if these babies are going to continue growing and fill the screen more or what the deal is, like I said, this is my first scrog.

The screen has holes of about 7"x7" wanted to keep them big incase I needed multiple branches out of the same hole.

Any tips or pointers are appreciated :blsmoke:

Looks like you have a good grow started. I have personally never done a scrog and am planning on doing one for my next grow so this thread is very interesting to me. Good luck and hope you get all your questions answered so we both can learn!

Cheers fellow scroger. You asked for feedback, so here is mine lol. Cool strains you got going, Black Domina was my first killer strain I grew years ago, in fact the bud in my avatar is a BD. Currently I'm growing some Master Bubba.
Anyhow, I think that that the idea behind a scrog is to fill the screen about 50% to 70% (depending on strain) before flipping 12/12. During the stretch they fill the remaining screen. We do this so we can utilize maximum light to each bud site above the screen, and thereby maximize yield while minimizing plant count. Scrogging with different strains can work, but only if the strains grow and Finnish at about the same rate. The vegetation under the screen will get little to no light and is for cleanliness reasons (disease/mold control) usually removed throughout the second week of flowering. Personally I think that as long as there is good airflow and humidity is being controlled, that it is ok to leave the water leafs on. I've done it both ways, but usually the stuff under the canopy falls eventually off on its own. All the little shoots from down below will never make it to the light anyhow, so I cut them off.
In your situation you are utilizing the screen as a means to support the plants, which will work (done that several times as well), but is not really a scrog. 24" between plants and screen means that you will veg forever before they fill the screen, I would keep that distance at about 10"-15". In your situation I would continue to use the screen as a plant support structure. They are going to be cramped in there, so make sure they get enough air flow to prevent mold problems during late flowering.

Unity, I hear exactly what your saying about starting to get them in the screen early. Def shouldve done that. Luckily I put them on cinder blocks about day 3 of flower to get those brances into the screen. It worked and all new growth has been tucked under and ive got a nice little canopy going right now. The bottom right corner where my two bubbas are is the only part of the screen thats not full. Next time I run a scrog I will definately be going with a lower screen so I can avoid having to raise the plants. I think im going to get in there with some shears today and cut some of that undergrowth that will never reach the canopy.

Do you ever cut the biggest fan leaves up top? not all, but if they are blocking other bud sites will you give them the snip?

Thinkin about starting a small perpetual grow soon...scrogging all the while of course, so I can maximize my yeild from the 2 plants I plan on pulling every other week. Anyone who skims this with perpetual grow experience feel free to chime in on that too

Unity, one more thing..how quick did you end up taking that BD? cause I saw the pics at 36 days and it was looking RIGHT.

Cheers, I harvested the BD at 50days, but to be honest it looked done at about 40-45 days :) Brings back sweeeeeet memories :))

I try to get them out of the way, if I have to I'll cut 1/2 the leaf, but I hate cutting anything above the screen. It's funny, but until my new grow space, I was only able to mess with the front plants (access problems). Here comes the cold hard truth: The plants I touch the least end up growing the best.

I use the same method and what I do is cut everything that will not reach the canopy EXCEPT water leaves. Only stalks that will not reach leaves are ok to leave unless dying of course. I also do not like to cut the leaves i usually try to just tuck or bend them out of the way. I just updated my journal so check out how it is working for me. You really cant see the net anymore but get an idea.

You did put the screen too late to do the lollipoping method. But your ok, The screen will support the buds, also you can train/bend some the branches thru the screen to try to spread them in the canopy thru week 3 of flower. Its what I do.. I don't got time for vegging.. To each they're own tho :peace:

Good luck with your SCROG. I just made my screen yesterday and installed it in my 2x4 tent. I made mine a slight "v" shape to help increase light intensity on the edges of the tent. I like seeing what I can look forward to with a full screen!!! Cant wait!
