How Much Out Of An Hps Grow ?

Hi there, I'm guessing that with an 150W CLF light you could get around 60g out of 4 plants.

I've just grown plants under CLF and I was wondering how much you can get out of an 150w HPS and a 250w HPS maybe also a 400w hps ? Growing 4 plants with around 2-3 weeks of veg.

I just want some real numbers, not the maximum one guy got once, just a normal growth number.

I don't know where you got those "values" from.. but the're not 100% right.

There are other variables that effect the final yield.. other than just the amount of light your giving the plant(s).


When I first started growing 4 years ago.. I started out with one single 150watt HPS lamp. With two plants (strain depending).. I would average an ounce per plant.. using just the one 150watt HPS lamp. Which for me.. is more than enough since I don't sell or smoke with anyone other than myself. I only grow for my personal consumption/enjoyment.. not to make money.

I now have two 150watt HPS lamps.. which are hung above the tops of the plants (the top canopies).. but then I also have 6 total CFL bulbs, which are used for side lighting.. in order to give the lower foliage/buds more available light. Each one of the CFL bulbs are rated at 150watts. So, combined.. I have 900 watts of CFL.. and 300 watts of HPS.. all together I'm running 1,200 watts..

As far as lumens go? Not sure how many lumens of light the CFL bulbs put out.. but both of my HPS lamps.. are rated at 16k lumens. So, with those two combined??.. I'm putting out 32k worth of lumens.. plus whatever the 6 CFL bulbs combined put out.. I would estimate that with the 6 CFL bulbs combined.. I'm probably putting out around 40k worth of lumens.. which isn't too shabby if I may say so myself.

i doubt you will get many responses with a question like that it is such a grey area. you might get better luck asking people what there setup is and the average expected dry yield.

i agree with everybody else. nobody can say what YOU would get off of a certain light because there are many many more factors that determine yield mainly i think grower experience. i got 8 ounces my first grow off of 5 plants under 1000W not i got 6 under a 1000 and i think i will at least double my yield this time around. the truth is its up to you i could get 5 ounces of off a 150 watt hps and you could get 60. that is why it is a difficult question and any answer will be an educated guess at best.

you can pull 6 lbs off of a 150 watt hps with 2 weeks veg time on most strains, if you know what your doing... that just shows how little you cheif know. The reply you are giving is what you usually get but it's not reality.

A person that grows using certain light and equipment can definitely tell how much you can get with that equipment. It's that easy.

I grew in a pc box and I can tell you how much you can get out of it. I grew in small pots and I can also tell you how much you can get. I'm growing now with some different equipment and again I can tell how much.

If you don't know how much you can get with the equipment you have been growing to. Then you know nothing.

straight up one person can get say 60 grams off a 150 then there is people that can get a hugde yield off a 150 this is a loaded question so ur going to get diffrent answers,,,,, ime going on my second grow last grow i got 4 ounces of 6 smaller plants under a 250 watt with no side lighting another guy might only get a quarter of it it all depends on ur skill man,,,,,, to answer a loaded question like this if ur using a 150 watt an ounce or more cant give u a down to the gram answer that would just be a guess cause i dnt know anything about ur setup other than light u using soil hydro nutes etc try helping us answer ur question

thanks for your reply lthopkins. I haven't got any hps setup, I just wanna get an idea of it, not an exact number. Different people will get different results but if I got lets say 5 to 10 people giving information about it I could get a nice idea. Also if anybody replying wants to give me the size of the pot they grew in it's very fine by me

Anywhere between busted, and 300 lbs...that good enough for you?

How many years you been growing? Telling anyone besides us?
Soil, or Hydro?
Strains?
Size of the room?
Nutes used?

There are just some of the variables needed to get a good yield. All you gave us was what type of lighting you are going to use. Good luck getting a straight answer The 1 light 2 plants 60g's left a lot out of how he got there. And you are too!

these are in 3 gallon pots 4 pre 98 bubba kush under 600 watt hortilux 4x4x8 tent full fox farm nutes with calmag ang budcandy anyone care to guess my future yield there 2 weeks flowering now
the pic is when they started day one of 12/12 and 2 weeks in the other two pics and they were topped they had a mg def also got that taken care of
edit looked at dates there 24 days seprate week before flowering

400w hps- I got 6 ounces off one plant
70 watt hps and 200 watt cfl's- I got 3 ounces off one plant
400w hps and 80 watt cfls- Im getting about 6-7 oz off 3 plants
160 watts cfl's- I got about an oz and a half off two plants

I had different soil each time and different watering and nute schedules

Its totally strain, soil, lights, nutes, water, room size, ventilation, temp, humidity, and experience dependent........I would go with a 400w if you wanna grow more than 2-3 plants at a time, and change your attitude
