Re-Vegging after Harvesting Your baby!!

So i started this thread for all of us who have yet to master the fine art of cloning and run into a outstanding Pheno of a certain strain that they want to keep, well the only other option there is to try what is called the Re-veg technique as i have seen done on other sights as well as here..This is hopefully going to be a helping hand for many who may run into this trouble one day as i am now..

So what im going to do is use my Blue Diesel girl as a template to usin this technique and let it serve as hands on learning and all knowledge and know how would be greatly appreciated as this is intended to serve not just i but RIU as a whole...

Re-Vegging Marijuana Plants After Harvest
by Grub

A lot of books and websites say that Cannabis is an annual plant, which means it usually germinates, flowers, and dies in one year/season. This is not necessarily true!

It is quite possible when growing indoors to grow a plant from seed, through the vegetative cycle, flowering and harvest, and then force the plant back into the vegetative cycle to repeat the whole process!

How does this happen?

Cannabis' life is governed by the hours of light it receives, if a plant is kept under a light for around 16 or more hours per day it will stay in the vegetative cycle indefinitely, if the light hours are reduced to around 12 hours per day the plant will go into flowering mode. If, when the flowering has finished and the crop harvested the light's are put back to 18 +hrs per day, the plant will be forced back into the vegetative cycle.

How is it done?

It is possible to harvest plants and then rejuvenate (re-vegetate) them vegetatively for a 2nd and even 3rd harvest. A second harvest can be realized in as little as 6-8 weeks. Since the plant stalk, and roots are already formed, the plant can produce a second, even third harvest of buds in a little more than half the time of the original harvest. When harvesting, take off the top 1/3rd of the plant. Leave most healthy fan leaves in the middle of the plant, cutting buds off branches carefully. On the lower 1/3rd of the plant, take off end flowers, but leave several small flowers on each branch. These will be the part of the plant that is regenerated. The more buds you leave on the plant, the faster it will regenerate. Feed the plant some high nitrogen plant food immediately after harvest.

After you have harvested your plant and left some of it still in tact, you need to transplant your mother because she needs new soil and room to grow a new root structure to support the new growth. Make sure your soil is semi-dry so that the root structure when it slides out of it's old home stays mostly in-tact, but since you have reduced the size of your plant you can also reduce the size of your root structure significantly. You can break off parts of the rootball mass without injuring the plant

When you intend to regenerate a plant, make sure it never gets too starved for nitrogen as it is maturing, or all the sun leaves will fall off, and your plant will not have enough leaves to live after being harvested.

Harvested plants can come inside for rejuvenation under continuous light or are left outside in summer to rejuvenate in the natural long days. As stated before, and in contrast to normal growth patterns, lower branches will be the first to sprout new vegetative growth. With the light's back to the veg cycle and the plant fed, the plant will start to grow new shoots. Usually it takes 2 or 3 weeks before any new shoots are noticed and the growth of the new shoots can look very strange, single leaves will grow aswell as other mutant looking leaves (as seen in the pic below). This is completely normal and after a couple of weeks growth the 'proper' leaves will start to appear.

How Long Do I Veg For?

As with all Cannabis plants, the longer you keep the plant in the re-veg cycle before switching to flowering, the bigger and better your plant will eventually become. Although, for best results it is better to wait until the re-vegged plant is producing a good amount of 'proper', full leaves again before switching to the flowering cycle.

After harvest and 45 days in re-vegging

Re-Vegging Clones

As with re-vegging whole plants, it is quite possible to re-veg a plant from a clone/cutting taken from a plant in flower. (as in the pic below). The exact same principles apply to clones.

Enjoy your new re-growth!

I put up my own thread about this, but you seem to know a lot about it.

I have some kind of Maui Wowie plant I really like and decided to clone it. I decided about a three weeks to a month after it started flowering. The plant is full of small buds right now, about the size of a kernal of popcorn, or smaller. I understand that any plant can be put back into veg, which would include my plant too.

I have it under a CFL/105w/65000k 24hrs. Gave it a much bigger pot with a lot more soil, fertilized it with some rooting fertilizer I had around. I put some compost I had made with the leftovers from my hash operation on top just for the hell of it.

How does this look to you? Will it reveg and will I be able to take clones off of this great plant? It's the only one of its kind I have right now. I've read that revegging takes a couple of weeks. Will the more-or-less advanced growth/flowering stage of my plant mean that I'll have to wait longer for a productive mother plant than normal? Meanwhile, I'll get some more mother plants from seed, but I'm just out of the MW so I'll do whatever I can to turn it into a mother.

Funny that you mentioned that i just got a sort of abused GDP from a frien of mine and im going to revert it back to vegging asap it was flowering really early in my oppinion it is only about 7 inches tall so far so what ive been told to do is begin giving it some high "N" nute again and start back long light hours with say 20/4 to start until you can see new growth starting all over again once this starts i will top it just for good measure and hope she dont hermie on me but she should be ok as i will wait until she is good and healthy before doing so..

hey stinkbud, sounds interesting. Which light are you gonna use to reveg ? Also can you show a pic of the whole plant ?

Cheers

looks like you guys know how to do this perfectly, i want to try this on my current grow. seeing as how ill be harvesting at far diffrent times anyway. ive done this before without knowing what i was doing. i chopped all buds off of a plant this one time and left the stem [basicaly a stub]. i was lazy and left the dirt with the stem in the pot, and it some how got knocked over. i noticed it growing more, i gues gravity indused it, and it ended up being a 3 foot tall by 3 foot wide bush with multiple heads. i was so baffled, i just thought id share my accidental experience on this. but i will take these tips and succsesfully do it to this grow.

Hey welcme to the thread, glad to have you and as for the lights i'll start them under cfls maybe about 150 watts of them to begin with and go to my 250 mh once they begin to show signs of vegging again..

well I never tried reveging but I have been doing it 4 plants lately, havent noticed any growth yet, 1 is outdoors and the other 3 are under artificial light, really I am damn near about to call it if I dont notice anything soon as they are starting to take up valuable space, I think to do a good reveg you should transplant to a bigger container at the least, I did nothing really except feeding them, next time I do this I am definitely going to transplant.

Well if you are gonna use 150W CLF to re-veg this is gonna be even more interesting :) sweet. I tried to reveg one plant under clf but it didn't work, it's meant to be difficult to re-veg with clf. What light schedule are you going to use ?

meh, you got some good info in there, but cloning is hardly a fine art. all it takes is a rusty pair of scissors. cloning sounds a lot easier and faster than revegging a harvested plant.

Ok i'll try to answer all the questions without taking up much space on the thread as some do! First i'll be using bew 150 watt equivilent Cfls to start revegg and i'll have them under that light for 20 on and 4 off cycle as for the pottery i thought i mentioned it and if not let me say that i will repot and get the girls started in a highly (N) rich soil mixure that wil be also studded with micros and fresh soil to help the revegg along..For all of you that are here and along to help or learn welcome to you all and i hope together we can obtain or goal as for those that are here to daubt i dont mean to be rude but if you are not helping you are not welcome this is not a game or talking points to me its ny plants im concerned with here..This method if dome right is worth its weight in gold so let us try to find the way to perfect it without your bullshit..TY and Peace

Very nice stinkbudd, I hope we get to see some nice vegetative growth. Do you know when will you harvest and start with the experiment ?

My main lady i want to re-veg is a blue diesel that is at the time i believe 33 or 34 days into flowering on a 8-9 week strain so within that time frame i'll post some pic's of her soon to let you all see how nice she is the smell and bag apeal will be nice and i hope the smoke will be as well but this is the only one out of the 4 i have now growing that actually turned very Dark Blue and almost purple with loads of crystals already....

yo i revegged my plant it was like 6 weeks in flowering and was producing buds slowly.. so i decided to reveg.

now the plant is growing "3 bladed leaves everywhere" is that ok?

and how long will flowering take for this plant.

It's good that you have got a plant that stands out from the rest with some nice characteristics, things are looking good :) just a pity that we still have to wait for a month. Looking forward to it :)

If i had to give a educated answer to that id say hell yes you will be good to go especially if you have 3 " fans popping out all over her!!! But one thing i must say is that if it was a slow flower strain to start with then it more then likely still will be once you flip back to flower sorry bout that bro but outside of that sett back you should and very well could have a beast on your hands...Thanks for stopping by and sharing with us feeel free to post pic's and updates as you wish on the progress!!!
