Saw Them in Action for the First Time Today

Of course I've contemplated the presence choppers before, thinking "hmm that looks like law enforcement scanning"

But today was very different, I hear a helicopter in the distance and think nothing of it, next thing I know there is a military chopper low as fuck doing circles around the local vegetation, just as i finished transplanting haha. Didn't come close enough to me, luckily i was under a super think bush canopy, but indeed it was browsing for grow ops, first time I've seen this first hand.

i can't imagine them being out in the month of may looking for crops, especially early may as i don't think that a lot of people would even have their crops in the ground yet.. i would think that they wouldn't really be out looking for crops till later in the year, like say september or so.. what are they looking for from a couple of hundred feet up, six inch seedlings??? i doubt that is what they are looking for to be honest..

Really? I know what you mean about the time, it is very early indeed, but this was so typical of a crophunt flyby. You could search for holes/pots of potential larger sites in May, but i agree plant sitings would be rare at the moment. What else might it have been for?

Maybe they're looking for al queda. :)
Our local PD is the equivalent oppression level of al queda, so i wouldn't doubt it lol.

Actually that brings up something else... it happened to be quite close to the police dept... that change anything? I want to know what they were doing, it really caught my curiosity.

maybe they were just runnin' manuvers of some kind, who knows, but I know in Nocal, I watched em' swoop a Mexi grow on fed land in May last year, we could watch em' zoomin' the next hill over from us as we were digging our rows for our legal grow-op. They get those guys sometimes when they are starting up, and they plant seedlings, so they're in by now.

In that case probably training of some sort. You'd have to watch closer and provide more details of what manueuvers they were doing to know.
Maybe getting more officers experience spotting things from the air, or practicing moving officers via helicopter.
Just getting all officers trained on getting on and off, seeing who's going to vomit, getting those capable of handling it used to the feeling of being in a chopper in case of air deployment...
Maybe they expect 2012 and marshall law and asteroids falling and roads being tore up and jesus's second coming, who knows...

There are many things they'd practice like that, depending on what they may be expecting.

I had this happen to me last year. A black helicopter flew directly over me while I was fertilizing and made a bee line to my cousin's crop on the other side of the swamp. Then made a hard left just over my cousins crop.
