Show Me What You Got LST?

I wouldn't ever tie a knot around a stem like that, not worth any risk when its so easy to not to:) Otherwise it looks great!

I can't tell what you are doing now, but what I do tie a short piece of string into a circle, then put it on the plant where I want. Then I take a longer string and secure it to that loop then pull it tight and tie it to something (my bamboo stick poking out of my airpots). This way I don't have to worry about choking stems, and I can leave the ties on the plant and not have to make new ones (simply tie a new string to the loop when needed)

ahh.. nice. i like that method.. gives you ease of use for future purposes.
thanks for the tip. +rep for you my friend :)

good to get some tips from a fellow net potter lol.. seems most LST'ers are in soil.

Did you see my previous post on the last page? I am going LST in air pots (stick a bamboo shoot through the whole thing then tie leading tip to stick) in my own Super Soil mix.

Oh hey Cali great pics!

your baby is looking good man. seems like you have already got help on what i would have helped with so thats good. ther is not to much more you can do now until she grows a lil bit, then tie down again.
and yes most lsters do seem to be in soil if you think of lst as just using string to tie down a branch. if you think of lst as i do witch is scrog nets, super cropping, and topping as a form of lst then it kinda evens out, i see alot of hydro guys doin scrog.

any way glad you like the thread, and keep us updated if you like

SCROG, Cropping, and topping are not LST because they are not low stress training techniques, I don't see how people could say using string is similar enough to cutting a plant. SCROG and LST are very similar though. I tie down multiple points so I'm more of a scrog than LST (which I suppose most simply would only be tieing down one point at a time?)

True, but its still just a weed, and they're useful methods of training that can be used in conjunction with each other. These plants are resilient!

yes but if you notice super cropping, topping and scrogging dont cause much stress at all it is very low stress really. ive topped, super cropped and lsted. ive never done scrog though, but ive topped a plant and it didnt stop or slow growth at all same with super cropping, so if it grows after with no dmage done it must mean it was very low stress so it would be considered LST. its all good man if you dont consider them a form of LST but i do cuz that is what it is to me, and a scrog has a net not strings. scrog = screen of green. so it sounds like to e your doing just reg LST.

oh and also what are you doing when you LST with strings? your bringing the taller branches below the smaller ones so the auxins will allow the shorter ones to catch up and become main shoots. witch is the main reason people top, super crop and scrog to create more tops

Would it stress you more if I cut your hand off or tied it behind your back? Just because the plant doesn't seem to slow down doesn't mean it didn't, I'm not trying to be a jerk just clarifying.
I know a SCROG uses a screen, I was saying a pure LST might be only tieing down the leading tip, and since I tie down many my plants may look more SCROG then LST. Most of what I do with LST right now is just move the branches around so they each get more space, some I tie way down (such as the 2 highest nodes on the plant that I broke the leading tip on), others I tie way down to help point them away from the rest of the LST so they can fill in the space above the pot on the other side of the stem.

Those of you who LST in 5 gallon buckets, how long do you have to keep them in veg for the stem wrap all the way around the bucket?

Hey guys! I took some pictures of my grow (first time!). I uploaded them to my journal and I am doing LST on one of my beautiful babes that are currently in flower! I realize I am new... so please bare with me. :)

My husband and I are fooling around with a, what we like to call a "poor-man's hydro" system. Tehe. We have two females in hempy buckets (started from seed) and they are currently in flower and sitting under two 55-WATT CFLs (not my preference of lighting... but affordable!).

One of which we did LST on! (on the left of picture) The results are INCREDIBLE! We have two main colas and what appears to be two more shooting up toward the light! I'm very happy to see this, and I was wondering if it was too late to do this on my other beautiful babe that you can see that we did not do LST on (on the right).

I also have a close-up of the one that I am low-stress training. Nice buds ;)

its all good to have different views on things. i stick with what i believe though.
and depending on how and witch way you tied my hand behind me i might just choose to lose the hand.

i think we can agree to disagree, ya?

looking good for what you got. and hey ive seen great grows in hempy buckets. i tried them once but failed some how. as for the lst in flower well, it doesn't look like they are to far into flower so i would say yes its ok to do some MINOR lst but be care full, the stems in flower get harder and can snap.

dam man she looks great. she looks like a big bowl of fruity pebbles. i want a taste.
great work man.

check out http://ledbudguy.com/forumdisplay.php/2-LED-Bud-Guy-Grow-Journals there is some serious LED growing going on here!
ive seen you on a few thread now in just the last 5 minutes posting this same post in threads you never been in before. please do not spam.
and i am really not interested in LED at all. to much money to buy and it does not compare to hps.

Actually good LED panels grow better than HPS and its definitely been proven even on these forums (look up Irishboy for starters). That said, LED has its own pros and cons to HID (80% less heat per watt but might be too cold for winter, more growing power per watt (but much more expensive in upfront costs for the panel), etc etc. Most LED companies still make crappy lights, but there are panels out there that are definitely better than MH/HPS (I don't know how LED compares to plasma or other exotic HIDs)

Hey BekinBud nice pull! The biggest yield I've ever gotten was from a plant that was just as colorful :P
