For DWC? or what? cuz bubbleponics/aeroponics you want it over the water pump, and if the roots grow into the water (which they will) its ok cuz of the air pumps going in there. For DWC i think they are supposed to go into the water too, the important thing is to make sure theres LOTS of oxygen in the water, the more air your pumpin in, the better.

You dont even have to put the water that high ever, but it wont hurt in the beginning. Once the roots hit the water, you should have the water level at like 2.5-3 gallons in a 5 gal bucket. just make sure your airstone is working well and pushing plenty of oxygen in the water. Good luck!

YOu dont have to put the water that high. Put it about 1/2 inch under the net pot and top feed with a cup of water until roots start drinking the water from the reservoir, Like the other guys say make sure you have some good air pushing the water the splashing of the bubbles will mist the roots too. Just be patient .

and when i have roots grow down do i lower the water level also?
also silly question lol the air pump needs to be on 24/7 right?

Yea bro your air pump needs to STAY on 24/7. You dont lower your water level. The more room the roots have to grow and develop the better. More bubbles is always a good thing. I'd agree with Beaver on the air gap between the water and the bottom of your net pot. That little gap of air allows for roots to grow both ABOVE and BELOW the water;) From what I've seen roots develop insanely fast in DWC/Bubbleponix. If you're doing it right then you'll see results in no time. Good luck and happy growing!
