Yet Another Reason to Hate Cops

Lets not forget about that poor Native American artist (who happened to be deaf) in Seattle that was shot in the back by a cop because he was carrying a knife and a board. He was a sculptor. The incident was "investigated" and the cop was found innocent of any wrongdoing.

He approached the gentleman from behind demanding he drop the knife. Then he shot him in the back and side four times when the artist didn't respond. The knife was 3 inches long and it is legal to carry a knife 3 inches or shorter. It is common practice for NA artists to carve their art in the streets. That's how they sell their goods.

This type of confrontation, whether drug related or not, is escalating at an alarming rate and usually with tragic consequences. There is always an investigation and the cops involved are always exonerated. It's becoming an epidemic but no one is looking into it. It's not gaining national attention. Why?
The poor guy was hard of hearing, he likely didn't even hear the cop tell him to drop the knife. Right, a little carving knife, only gave him a few seconds and shot him. It is getting out of hand, especially in the Seattle area it seems.

From the Seattle Times..

"City attorneys said Wednesday they are studying their legal options after a labor arbitrator, acting at the request of the Seattle police officers union, ordered the Police Department to stop releasing the names of officers found to have engaged in misconduct."

So now the don't even want public disclosure....

so youre gonna compare a bad cop to a mech.?you dont like your mech...go to another one, or fix it yourself.cops kill people, arrest people, and seriously fuck up peoples lives. that is where the diff. lies. but its pretty obvious from ALL your posts where your heart is at so really your biased opinion on police and how much you need their presence in your life is no surprise. lord knows a po-po thread cant be posted without you trying to justify their murderous actions.....also,if you know so many bad mech, sounds like you may want to get a better car,lol
With that mentality... I could say if you don't like your local cops, then you should move to a place with friendlier cops.

Just because we have options on which shop to use, that means it's okay for mechanics and their shop owners to lie, cheat... and essentially steal?

I think people interact with them a lot more than police, I think they have a much bigger impact. And never did I say anything as to equate to an amount of how "much" I need police in my life... I've never had to call them and only time I interacted with them was either through criminal action on my own behalf... or because they're childhood friends, family members... etc... a personal relationship.

"Their murderous actions" say that you simply know zilch. Do you even know what percentage of all cops actually have to use their weapons during their ENTIRE career? Maybe 3-4% of all US cops will ever have to fire their weapon resulting in the death of someone.

Go blow your smoke up someone else's ass, at least my posts make actual logical sense... your posts are just generalized babble about one profession of people you have a problem with, and no cop in your eyes could ever do any good.

Yet again another fine job!!!!! I was so angry at first then the more I read others posts I realized something. I should have been a cop. What you say why? Think about it as a cop you can do whatever you want and its all good :) You can break laws-shoot unarmed folks in the back-sell drugs-run people over and leave the seen of an accident cause your girlfriend was giving you head and you did not see the Person in the road and it is all good cause your a cop. Just like these kids parents crying oh my baby killed themselves cause of these gangs-Now I see why cops are hated these gang cowards are just choosing to be in the wrong gang-teach them to be in the right gang like local police or if they are good lairs local politicians-----I guess the most saddening/sickening part to me is how so many Bad cops are brought to court ( With OVERWHELMING PROOF) only to be let go with a pat on the back-Don't get me wrong- I know they are human and make mistakes but let me point this out for the tards again If you or I did this LIFE in prison---They are supposed to be better and held at a higher standard-( Um aren't they supposed to be setting an example?? Wait they are-if your a cop you can do whatever you want)--Oh and if you happen to pay taxes guess what YOU paid for it!! Go ahead folks let them keep doing what they want and before you know it you'll be next to be either directly or indirectly affected. Accountability where is it? I am starting to think the standards to be a cop have been GREATLY compromised? Thanks to OP-Zig for bringing this to light as I did not catch this on the news. Thanks to all who choose to read this-I am just bitchen :) Now I really need to smoke LoL Good day to all

cops r people, it is just their job; there is almost always someone else in charge pulling the strings. not only r cops people, they r people that risk their lives DAILY to keep "most" of us safe. granted innocent people r going to get hurt JUST like the cops. why be a hater? especially to people who do one of the hardest jobs that HAVE to be done for the good of all?

people r people, good or bad, cop or not, lawyer or not, politician or not, etc. etc. etc.

generalizations such as this r not only ignorant & small minded, they r simply a sad part of life & on the "bad" side. as such I didn't even bother reading ur ridiculous post...under the guise of hating cops.
No one forces them to become cops. Stop using the fact that they risk their life as a reason to be respected. It was a completely voluntary choice by them. If they didn't do it a million other assholes would.

It's very unfortunate that people who say things like you did can never back it up with any real statistics...

Perhaps that's because what you say isn't true... I know a lot more dirty, cheating, lying mechanics than I do police.
Ok, where are your statistics? Also do you require statistics on all matters, even subjective experiences, to draw conclusions? Or are you able to formulate your own opinions?

There is also a MAJOR difference between and unethical mechanic and an unethical police officer. It is unbelievable that you could seriously equate the two with the imbalance of power. I have never been harassed, or hand cuffed, or threatened by a mechanic. Police have done that to me a numerous occasions though. I would say the majority of my encounters with police were unpleasant. Not all of them, but enough to make me despise police in general.

I know I'm new around her but I'd like to share something with all of you. One of my interests for years has been following cases where police have overstepped their authority. I have hundreds if not thousands of instances of police brutality cases that resulted in death or severe disability. One of the subgroups of the brutality is the use of tasers on people. From young children, the youngest being 10 yrs old, to the oldest being 98 if I remember correctly, police overuse force and abuse people including the disabled, sick and mentally handicapped. I have kids myself. I know how unruly they can be, but if a police officer can't control a misbehaving 10 year old girl, I believe a new career is in order. If a police officer can't convince an elderly woman that she sat in the wrong seat at a sporting event and has to use excessive force on a frail geriatric person, it's time to find a new career. Maybe the UFC is looking for more fighters? It's an ego problem in the first place. It's indoctrination second. Police officers (they're not police officers anymore and have little interest in community policing, they're LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS and will enforce "any law written") With the advent of federal money being spent training police departments, what we are seeing is the militarization of local community police departments across the country. Many people are blind to it and that's okay.....sooner or later the wrong law abiding citizen will be mistreated and we'll see views change quickly. Unfortunately what I call "sheeple" romanticize our law enforcement officers, putting them on pedestals in a kind of idolotry. Before anyone jumps my ass...........I was on my way to becoming a cop and decided against it. I upheld my pricipals in the fact that I couldn't work side by side with people who have a pentiant for violating people's Constitutional rights on the daily. You can believe what you want to believe and express it within your 1st Amendment rights.......let me do the same.

I've personally had it both ways. I've had cops 'overlook' the smell of cannabis rollin out my apartment and walk away saying "We need more of your kind around here" (Because I stopped a crack dealer from raping some chick in a neighborhood they're way to chickenshit to travel to for another hour or three after a call comes in...and I didn't even use a weapon...and I'm white).

So yeah....this...

No one forces them to become cops. Stop using the fact that they risk their life as a reason to be respected. It was a completely voluntary choice by them. If they didn't do it a million other assholes would.
Then again, I've had battery on a police officer dismissed because the cop failed to show up to court after being faced with the fact that we had evidence he lied under oath about how many time he tazed my girlfriend. He said one. I got the pix of the welts and tracks four inches long front dragging the tazer OVER HER FUCKING SPINE that says he was fucking liar and they tazer her four fucking times.

Why? Because she was a tranny and they called in a female body inspector until she told them because they were putting their knee in her ass while holding her down on the back of the police car and she was worried about her silicone. Yeah that probably wasn't the brightest idea but that's when the tasing started.
Both incidents from the same department (Indianapolis, incidentally, don't mind saying that shit...I don't live there no more....guess why LOL)

It's not the few "Bad apples" I'm worried about. It's every other cops' decision to not do shit about it and turn a blind eye. This "Blue wall of silence" is bullshit. It's the same thing as all the hoodlums running around iwth the "STOP snitching" shirts.

My statistics were taken from the Bureau of Justice Statistics (http://bjs.ojp.usdoj.gov/) and it seems you're smart enough to formulate the conclusion to your answer that in this specific context, statistics are indeed required.

I was not comparing the two, I was simply pointing out that there is indeed NOT a disproportionate number of bad cops compared to good cops... there are many more good cops than bad. Unlike mechanics, where just about every one of them will be out to try to get a little extra money out of you for the job.

As for your own encounters, I would say that is probably due to your own attitude with the cops you've come in contact with. Honestly, I don't know how I made it to where I am today after all the stuff I did as a teenager, and I had MANY run-in's with the cops, and these cops are big city cops... especially New Orleans. Yet to this day, I never would belittle myself by becoming one of those people who "generalize" about any profession, especially law enforcement... because I am smart enough to realize I don't know every cop in my country, if I did then maybe, just maybe... I'd be correct in generalizing about them.

And no, no one asked them to become cops... instead they took it on themselves to do one of the most unpredictable jobs in the world, and one of the most dangerous.

No one asks anyone to become a Marine... no one asks anyone to become a firefighter... no one asks anyone to climb relay towers and ensure you have good cellphone service... but these people all do these jobs, and therefore their choices, and their performance in duty should be respected, as without them life for most people would be a nightmare.

Agreed, but the same thing happens in the military and yet we all still respect most soldiers... why is that?

You sure about that? When was the last time you went to a VA, or say camped out for a summer with a 'nam vet? It's sad. NOt because he was batshit fucking crazy. But because I could tell why he was batshit crazy...everyone just abandoned him and gave him a buck on the highway exit so they could go back to forgetting about it.

The most we'll entertain a 'nam vet is with Battlefield franchise on our Xbox. You want to tell me when these kids come back (that won't be kids by that time) we won't treat them the same? Back when the war started we promised we wouldn't and we bought a bunch of yellow ribbons to put on our SUV's next to our jesus fish but a trip by the VA to see how the ones that have come back are being treated NOW doesn't make it look promising. Especially when the government will be broke and vet health care is always the first redux to go.

Oh what's that? You want a proven effective treatment for PTSD? Fuck you. We'll still be holding the war on drugs and Ecstasy will still be illegal.

SO I call bullshit. Soldiers get less lip service and let alone real respect than bacon at a barmitzvah.

Wait what? I make a generalization that cops are disproportionately full of bad apples, and you slam me for making a comment not backed up with statistics. I don't see how your link to the boj main page provides any evidence to the contrary though. Exactly what statistics are you using to back up your claim that cops are disproportionately ?

Also do I even need to point out that you are making sweeping generalizations about mechanics without providing any kind of statistics to back it up?

Maybe it's just me but the majority of cops i've encountered have been assholes. I think the type of personal that wants to become a police officer is disproportionately skewed towards power hungry assholes. I don't respect the police.

Expect about 15-20 small minded folks jumping on your ass about that...

Every time I make a statement like that on this forum, the same idiotic gang show up and start talking about "fuk da poleese" and other random, idiotic things.

To which I say fuck'em... because just like you, I dearly appreciate the good men and women out there who go to work every day and put their lives at risk for people they know nothing about.

I'll just repost that, because as we can see... it is true.

No use arguing with ignorant fools, I won't change the opinion of your diluted minds (all 3 of you), and you won't change my level of respect for the police... also, it's not going against the public, because from the likes and rep I have received on all topics about law enforcement on these forums, it seems the majority agrees that generalizing about the police being all corrupt and all power hungry just makes you look like a complete idiot.

Hell, even if they busted down the door to my growroom, I'd be in hand with a bong and a light just for them...

So, enjoy your negative relationship with the police while many others enjoy a positive experience... I'll tell ya though, nothing like talking to friendly LEOs about your biggest cola's and final weights, and having them laugh WITH you about the stupidity of our drug laws.

A shame you 3 will never get to experience such a thing... as I think it's better to bring our two communities (Cannabis users and LEOs) closer together than to split us apart, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition is just one sign that mindsets are changing, and I love getting out there and making steps to help that cause.

Now if you'll excuse me, there's a cop sitting in the market parking lot across from my apartments who I must go take some warm Krispy Kreme donuts to... :joint: :peace:
