Cops and Their Toys

For a lot of us, growing is illegal, and can come with a lot of heart ache if we get busted doing so. I am trying to cover all my bases, and get some knowledgable on cops, and their investigative toys, when it comes to busting up gardens. I know cops everywhere are different and poses different budgets and tools, but I am starting this thread in hopes of getting some info on what they are capable of. For instance I heard they have something that they can pick up a heat signiture inside of a house using over 450w HID lights. Not sure if this is true or not, and I am not to concerned with cops driving past my house and pointing such a device at my home, because cops dont drive down my dead end street to often. but helicopters would be a different story. Anyone know if these are real threats, how to outsmart their toys, and what different toys they use may be? Come on now, I am sure there are a few cops on this board...you can give us some advice while your here? (do something good for a change, and help us cover our butts )

YES its called a F.L.I.R cam. it detects high levels of heat and is very sensitive. it can detect really almost any heat, for example, at night, you can touch your hand to glass of a window and shortly after if the flir is pointed at that spot it can see your hand print there on the glass from the heat your body generates.

they have portable flir and flir on hellocopters. the ones on hellocopters have a amazing zoom on them and can see very well.

FLIR - Forward looking infrared radar. If you live in an unfriendly state this could be a problem. It reads heat signatures and can be mounted in a helicopter. Be mindful of your trash.

I read in the news paper some time ago that people that were growing large amounts of cannabis in there loft ( in grow rooms) were leaving a fridge/freezer open outside the grow room to cool the airdown outside the room. It didnt say if it worked though but I think it would.

Can they actually look inside your house via helicopter? Or you all meaning outside crops?

no they carnt see inside your house but they can see hot air being pumped out, try not to pump your air out of one place like a pipe sticking out of roof or wall, venting into another room or under the floor is the best way as it spreads the heat out and looks normal.

on a side not a few people have been court here because they were growing in there loft during the winter when it was snowing and there house was the only one on the street which had no snow on the roof because of the heat, lol

flir's are rediculouse and dont give viable enough evidence for a warrant of any kind believe me my dryer vent puts out much more heat than my 2400watts of hid do so i wouldnt worry be more mindfull of who knows what you are doing and who you are selling to (if that is the case) and you should be fine. the police are more worried about people making good money doing this and nothing will give them a warrent faster than being busted for selling, now if your entire house it putting off 90+ digree temps you might want to start worring about heat signitures as your lit up on the flir like a christmas tree lol you want to keep your grow space as cool as possible.

Ok, so if it IS possible to see your heat signiture inside, I am thinking that I will only be running the HID 12 on 12 off, so maybe run the 12 on during daytime hours, so at night no heat sig is showing up? Would'nt they be looking for a signature at night anyways?

We are a couple of drama free, reclusives here. We dont even socialize with the neighbors. Probably the quietest people on the block, with almost zero visitors. We look like your normal everyday neighbors who get up, go to work, and go about our business, day to day...So I dont think being ratted out will be a problem, but the light I will be using as of now will be a 600w HPS for flower, and some T5s for veg (not worried about the T5's). I was just afraid if I set up my growroom in a spare bedroom in the front of the house the 600w's signature may be seen.

the best information i have found is in the barry cooper videos called never get busted. you can watch these on youtube in sections. this guy used to be a canine officer in southern texas. he made hundreds of drug busts and then realised it was all bullshit, started smoking pot, and telling people the tricks he used to bust people. check out these vids they will tell you alot of the info you are looking for.

If you are wondering what way's law enforcement find Medical grows, it really boils down to the Holy Trinity of growing.... Tell, Smell or Sell and is usually tell.... So many people can tell you most of their problems began with an argument with a girlfriend, boyfriend, husband or wife......

I have heard so many stories that started exactly that way.
