i notice that these days a lot of movies that are billed as comedies are really much more than that.
observe and report, for instance. a super funny movie that was also though provoking and kinda sad.
then there's macgruber. that movie is just funny. there's nothing deep about it at all.
scott pilgrim vs the world may be kind of a chick flick, but it was VERY fun to watch.
all the homage to old-school games and the visual effects were brilliantly done.
i want to see some good tom clancy movies made... thomas jane can play john clark.
sorry if that seemed kinda random.
just woke and boke.

i'm not talking about a clancy based game movie, i'm talking about without remorse.
or perhaps red storm rising.
they could also re-do clear and present danger and get it right. the last movie was a terrible book adaptation.

usually movie adapts of books are not as good as the book themselves cause you have a better imagination than what is able to be produced on screen. also its very difficult to have character inner dialog on screen without a losing some part of it.

Best example I can think of off the top of my head was in The DaVici Code...the woman Robert Langdon runs around with is the book is super smart and contributes between the two in solving mysteries. But in the movie she is an idiot and Langdon has to explain everything to her (and hence the audience who has no idea of whats going on)

I agree, we get maybe one or two good movies a year, everything else is SHIT. I just saw The Hangover 2, and that shit was hilarious! I expect Transformers 3 to be shit too but with some epic visuals.

Heres my thoughts on ppl who see these summer pop-corn movies thinking they r gonna be the next Godfather. I studied theatre and film in college and can break down movies with the brst of em. from lighting and camera angles to subtext and plot summeries.

Going to the movies with the preconcieved notion that its gonna be crap and your gonna think its crap.
go to the movies and use the suspension of disbelief and youll have a good time!

what does this mean? go and watch the movie for what it is and stop over thinking things, youre there to have a good time, just go with it.

Are many movies really good these days? no, but you can put whatever problems ya have in the world for a couple hous and just enjoy whats going on.

and btw, Xmen first class was pretty damn good IMHO

except when your friends bring you to watch The Human Centipede, they told me it was a romantic comedy,i bought into it,than soon realized the whole movie was about 3 friends who get knocked out by some mad scientist and wake up with their lips sewn to each others corn hole:shock:lol worst 2 hrs ever(if you dont believe me search it up,southpark did a spoof on it too)other than that BadAndys right,if you go to a movie with the perception its gonna suck..it will..just puff some green or pop in a few "caps" before you go if you cant stand movies that badd.(and to everyone never ever EVER watch The Human Centipede,i repeat NEVVERRR!

I guess alot of people might be concerned with the lack of originality or working from scratch in film pitches nowadays.

Maybe it's because I'm a total nerd, but I can't get enough of them. (providing they're well done, with the fans and original creator in mind) FFVII Advent Children blew my mind. When I finally got it on Blu Ray I nearly jizzed my pants and discovered an even deeper love for my Playstation 3. I think only real fans or someone with a deep understanding of the franchise should direct/produce a film adaption, so they do well... What a producer should do- see the vision and concept or spirit of that project through to the end product.

I was absolutely mortified when Dragonball came out. They fiddled with the storyline and character's appearance/personality far too much. It had the potential to be epic. I've seen some spectacular Dragonball/DBZ cosplays an skits- then envisioned how much MORE awesome it would look like if filmmakers with a massive budget, costume and prosthetics department had a crack at it. I even understand them trying to modernise or sex it up a little, making certain injokes more accessible to non fans, but they just... Simply put, they fucked up. My childhood, growing up and coming home after school to sit and watch some kickass anime... They just tainted that. Thanks alot. *sulk*

I think Spiderman was a fantastic example of a comic book to film adaption. It had a childish or unrealistic 'cool factor' with some elements, bearing in mind it's from a comic book universe but still managing to sit within the real world. Even the camera filters they used blurred the lines between animation and live action subtly. But generally, I hate most comic adaptions- especially Hulk -_- I dread to think what shit the Spiderman reboot will stink of. It's cruel and unnecessary. Iron man was irritating at times, but bearable, with a nice soundtrack.

I think some film adaptions have become almost as iconic as the original games- the Tomb Raider series has done alright, and with Angelina Jolie proving that such well proportioned ladies do indeed exist in real life. But instead of you having to find, stalk and groom these women yourself, they put on the screen for you... with gins, in a thin top and short shorts ^^

What would I give for a film adaption of Drakan: the Ancient Gates, Dark Cloud or a long-ass trilogy chronologically encompassing the entire Kingdom Hearts franchise :3 *drools* OMFG I would FUCKING LOVE that.

I'm sorry... I am such a geek...
