Well last few days have been nothing but cloudy! Its causing my plants to stretch quite a bit. Can I add more soil to cover up some of the stem? I hear doing this will cause the stem to grow roots. Is this true?

well when i feel like my main stem is getting weak due to stretching i almost always use my grow medium to fill up my container. id rather the main stem grow a few roots than having my plant topple over, snap then die! especially after putting all my time and effort into it!

So the stem will grow a few roots? I was iffy about this. But if its true I will add more medium to my container to help the stem/produce more roots!

I've added soil before if the plants get lanky in the first few weeks of growth. Plants will continue to grow as normal.

Yes covering up the stem will grow roots even the branches if you try. I did a serpentine layering and the one plant with four branches looks like four different plants now. Keepem green dirrtyd

lol where are you guys located?... Im in Michigan... weathers been good over here but not a lot of rain. And because I don't have a close water source I am pretty much counting on rain for my only supply.... I am just top ammending the plants for nutrients.

I'm in the fucking 60's here too!! Not that I mind that but the clouds are fucking me cuz my plants only get about 7hrs of direct sun the rest of the time they get sun filtered through a maple tree.

Been having bad thunderstorms almost everyday for the last week around here too, but to answer your question, Yes you can add some soil medium to compensate for the stretch. My 1st grow I did that and the stem eventually grew some very strong roots along the stem line. watered her stem really good..I don't think dry soil would produce the same effect.
