Is this enough sunlight for my plants?

I am growing two plants in an area near a tall hedge. The plants get direct sunlight from sunrise until 2 pm when the hedge creates a somewhat "light"-shade (not a completely dark shade) on the plant until sundown.

I am just wondering if the plants are getting enough sunlight? There are no signs of any issues. However, the plants are not as big compared to those of other growers at the same age of the plant, but this might not only be because of this reason.

Also, I am wondering if this will affect whether the plant enters the flowering stage when it senses the change in sunlight schedule?

Of course the more direct sunlite the better but as long as you get at least 5 or 6 hours of direct I dont think you will lose to much yield when it comes time to flower. Good luck!

How tall is the hedge?

I'm in Texas and all mine cooked about a week ago(I forgot em one morning).
So I actually prefer situations like that(shady afternoons,sunny mornings).

Oh, thanks. That's interesting and gives me more confidence in my plants. Well, the hedge is about 30 feet or so, but like I said, the shade hits the plants just about exactly at 2 pm. I was just wondering if this shade would have any affect on the plant's "ability" to enter the flowering stage in the future since the plant enters this stage after it senses the change to a 12/12 sunlight schedule. The shade wouldn't mess up the plants ability to detect this light change would it? Have your plants been able to flower alright with this shade? Thanks.

The shade won't effect when the plant will flower. Not sure on the whole science behind other than saying that nature knows what it's doing. Sounds like you have plenty of sun as well, I have seen plants do OK on 4-5 hours of direct light so you should be more than fine.

Yea outdoors nature takes over and I dont go by 12/12 they know when to flower and its not allways when the light/dark is exactly 12/12 and not every strain will start flowering at the same time. Good luck!
