Right on, buddy... I just get bothered when I see baseless fears and myths. These seem to be centered around catching fire and getting busted, lol a lot of noobs think they're being watched my the feds and any equipment that's used to grow pot will catch fire. Victims of government brainwashing, lol. Fear is a powerful tool.

its is and like i said the probabilities is probally the same as a plane crash
i just like getting under peoples skin so it was a win win for me
and honestly he is right the probabilties of a fire is with jerry rigged set ups or overloaded ops that are beyond the space their in because of inexperience growers
but regardless this little child as yound and blind as he may be must be guided
but not by me cause im f*cking lost and i dont use ballast

faulty wiring at the factory...im after facts and statistics non of which i could find on this topic by reading so i posted a topic. Was I wrong? LOL something could fall of your shelf and land on your ballast and then your in trouble. Im reminded of the doctors who do surgery and leave tools and towels inside a persons body. Im thinking it happens more then you think.

Frankly. All you can do is take every precaution you can. I've never heard of anyone I know having a tool left inside their body by a surgeon, but I have heard of it happening. The point is, there is a risk in this hobby, and it is up to you to make sure everything is as safe as you can make it. I have high quality surge protectors to take whatever life throws at them. I over do the wiring guage, I have security cameras that notify me of any sort of movement, and I can check at any time from my phone. I have a dog to hopefully keep people away from my house . I have a very close friend I could call if I'm at work if something were to happen while I wasn't there. I saved a very long time to get the very best, most efficient gear I could before I moved out. PLAN. Plan for more than you can think of. I thought I had everything planned out after years of planning, and I was still probably $3,000.00 short of what I actually needed. Don't cheap out if you are going big.

xcon said it all; your (reputable manufacturer) HID ballast/ light is no more likely to catch fire than your dryer, fridge, space heater, etc.

You know there is this condition where below average human beings view themselves as far more superior/talented than they really are. You seem to be a prime example of this.

This "kid" as you presumed him was asking a perfectly reasonable question. Would the heat generated from his ballast cause a fire? I have had the same question myself as my ballast gets extremely hot if i dont have a small fan on it (as in i quick dry buds in minutes on it and if i leave them on there they singe).

You have post after post on here, almost none of which actually give him any useful or helpful information. The fact that you actually go out of your way to basically say, "my setup is better than yours", and to actually claim that this is evidence of your vast knowledge and reading skills is absolutely fucking laughable! As in you should be laughed at if your statements weren't so stupid that they pissed me off. No, his ballast is probably not going to start a fire, and if someone were on here telling everyone that if you don't air cool your ballast it will burn your house down, your absurd behavior would make more sense. But that isn't the case. All you needed to do here was so no, this is highly unlikely you are too paranoid. Instead you open with an arrogant (and stupid) assumption that he is young for asking such a question (no other indicator just a question), and proceed to post line after line of the most self righteous, moronic sewage that i have seen on here. You going out of your way to do nothing more than insult a new grower is deplorable, and you can't be very bright if you make such a habit of it.

Reading many of your posts all over this site, you obviously know much less about botany than you think you do. Smart people don't make baseless assumptions. Your assumptions are baseless. Grow the fuck up, and get over yourself, and then maybe start posting helpful information rather than barrages of insults.

probably not. my ballast gets so hot that it does burn things if i leave them on there. it doesn't ignite anything but it will singe pistils and hemp string, so your question really isn't that stupid at all, though i'm sure u already knew. also to preempt this it's not faulty manufacturing i called them and they said this level of heat was normal. putting a small 4 inch desk fan that is pretty weak cools it right down.

Yeah, his whole little essay was a bit out there. He basically blended about 3 different people into 1, and said I was talking down to the op or something? I really don't even know what happened. I think he has some super secret strain we all need to know about, because that mofo is in outer space.

I love how you make all these generally insulting claims, but you literally didn't say one thing in response. It can't be because you didn't understand it, because it was pretty simple, even if a little bit disorganized. I wouldn't expect someone who reads a lot to call a couple small paragraphs an essay. That usually just applies to people that don't complete their thoughts and provide support for claims. I would ask that if you are going to insult me, you at least provide me with some substance as well.

I perfectly understand that you were not talking about the OP most of the time. I was speaking to your FIRST comment, which WAS ABOUT THE OP, and was incredibly presumptuous and arrogant. Everything else, was me telling you how in general your insulting comments and arrogance did absolutely nothing to help the person who started the thread, and are bad news for rollitup as a forum. you start about by telling him he sounds like a kid and should read instead of posting. you quite obviously say it in a way that is condescending.

What I saw was one guy trolling and another guy getting trolled. Just because a comment is friendly doesn't mean he wasn't trolling LOL.

What bothered me was your selective outrage at only one of them. A troll can spread bad info all day long (and he does), but god forbid somebody tries to shut them up. LOL, whatever... good job, sport :clap:
