i have a really old hps in my 600w hood, i was wondering if i switched from the red spectrum of the HPS to the Blue of the MH if it would stress my plant. this light is really old and can barely even make it through my plants to the soil. Should i switch or just finish my last week or two with my MH? +rep for some help/ expert advice.
blue spectrum but.............
any light is better than no light. no light means death.
as long as you stick to a strict 12/12 hour flowering then ok.
the problem with halide is it is a veg light that causes stretching in plants.
but......... so does the dark as they search for light.
and that is the problem, 12 hours of stretching dark, and 12 hours of stretching blue light.
keep the lamp as close as possible to the plants without burning them.
better still get some flourescent low wattage lamps to run alongside as close as possible to stop stretching.
remember it is the 12/12 hour light that is making the plant flower and not the lamp itself, you are copying the change in the season,
the different position, distance, spectrum and time the sun is in the sky revolving around nature.
