Late outdoor grow sacramento... Take two...

Well somehow i always manage to get started a little late, this year was partly due to the late start to summer here in sac. the rest was due to my laziness. i guess its better late than never. this year im going with only 20 plants as opposed to 45 which i did last year, it was just more work than i'd like to do again. the lineup this year will consist of 4 strains, but there is a chance i will only do two. it all depends on what the dispenseries in town have tomorrow. i got ten in the ground today and will be planting the last ten tomorrow. as of right now i have 5 blue dream and 5 purple kush clones in the ground. if i dont like what i see tomorrow i will go back to where i got the blue dream purple kush clones and purchase 5 more of each. my garden is 25' x 20' and the native soil is clay. i ammended with 1 1/2 yards of coarse sand, 1 yard of recycled compost, and 1 yard of humus. i rototilled, well my cousin did, before adding the ammendments and once more after. then i dug my holes 3' wide and 1.5' deep. i then filled the holes halfway with black gold garden compost and the rest of the way with what i dug out of the holes and mixed it thoroughly. i used vitamin b1 for transplanting. i will be using age old organics grow for veg (10-5-5) and bill's perfect fertilizer (6-11-5) for bloom. i will also be using spray-n-grow micronutrient complex and unsulfured blackstrap molasses throughout the entire cycle. i will be using coco-wet for my wetting agent. i have azamax and safer catepiller killer on hand if needed. i will be foliar feeding the entire time only feeding the roots with what i have left over after spray feeding. burlap shade cloths will also be used as long as the temps are above 85. for security i have a 95lb (at least) male american pit bull terrier who doesnt take any time off. and his mother who is 70lbs but tends to take some time off due to the fact that shes deaf, but needless to say a firearm wont be necessary. when its all said and done i will have spent approximately $500. Below are pictures of us preparing the ground, more pictures will be posted tomorrow once all the plants are in the ground. i will be updating every couple days after that with pictures and videos so stay tuned.

haha thats whats up... i grew up on 67th st and 14th ave right across from hj, graduated from there in 06. i also lived on 73rd st, 79th st, belleview, wilkinson, and 64th... i actually went to west campus high school for my first year and a half til they gave me the boot. but thanks for the the comments everyone im on my way to my garden right now. gotta put up some fencing today and plant the rest, will update with pics tonight. and jj i will be checking out ur grow as soon as im done with this reply. im sure ur grow is puttin mine to shame this year again...

so i got the fence up and the last ten in the ground tonight, just finished up about 30 minutes ago. i snapped a couple photos but since it was dark they didnt come out that well but i posted em anyways. i will def take more tomorrow in the daytime. i ended up goin back to south sac care center and pickin up some more blue dream and purple kush. my lineup now consists of 12 blue dream and 8 purple kush. there is a slight chance that i add a couple more since i got started so late so they prob wont get that crowded seeing as how they are so small. but the ones i planted last night showed no signs of transplant shock so all is well. i will update again tomorrow with more pics. and to angryblackman... u inspired me with your video so i got one in the works now, should be pretty sick when its done. my cousin is also workin on a timelapse video which i will til the end to post that. he's gonna condense the whole season to about 3 minutes so that will be pretty sick as well. well ill be sure to keep it updated...

how strict are they over there you think if someone had 8 plants illegaly and a chopper seen it a cop would go?

South Sac! Gotta love it. Didn't know there were so many of us here. I am a Greenhaven girl. Used to be anyway, now Rancho C. Right by the cop shop. Ghetto bird flies over more than daily. I guess if they come to get me I will have to give them a hit.

Hey Southsac, plants are looking good, very throrough setup. I'm scribed.
Question though: What exactly are the benefits of just foliar feeding as opposed to the traditional "pour on top" method? Will the roots get what they need to grow a good sized rootball?

when i first started growing a couple years back i got two growing books, one written by jorge cervantes and the other by ed rosenthal. the two were on the same page on just about everything except whether to foliar feed or not. ed rosenthal says that 75% of the plants cell receptors are on the leaves (mostly the undersides) and that only 25% are on the roots (which is why i still dump the leftovers on the roots). jorge cervantes says foliar feeding should only be done when the plant needs nutrients fast. so my first year i did a side by side with two sensi star clones and the one i foliar fed grew almost a whole foot taller, had much more dense nugs, and outweighed the root fed plant by 4 oz. the one i foliar fed produced almost 1lb exactly while the root fed sensi star produced just over 12oz. And ive been sold on foliar feeding ever since. then i ran across the spray-n-grow products and they also recommend foliar feeding. i guess its just a personal preference cuz a lot of people use the root drench method and grow great bud. but if i were u id run a side by side with two plants with the same genetics and see for yourself. seeing is believing and i am a firm believer in foliar feeding and there is not one "expert" who could convince me otherwise. the only disadvantage ive seen is when they are budding u have to be careful not to drench the buds themselves too much, just focus on the leaves. but i feed in the morning and the sun dries em out anyways so i havent had any major problems with mold due to foliar feeding. oh and as long as u prepare your soil correctly the roots will explode no matter which feeding method you use, imo.

all my experiences with cops and marijuana have surprisingly been pain free. ive actually had a black n white officer compliment my plants last year, and i had 45 of em. the ghetto bird flies around ALL the time, they probably just decided that there is too many people growing to stop us all. i think they are more concerned with people growing on public property than they are about little backyard ops like mine.

lol ya half the rancho pd probably smokes anyways, i hardly ever see em doing any police work. must be cuz they are too baked out of their minds.

When I quit foliar feeding my powdery mildew went away

Just be cautious, I've had problems with it.

u probably had that problem cuz ur growing in a greenhouse dont u think? i know pm likes shade and lower temps. as long as these temps stay up where they were today i dont think pm will be a problem *fingers crossed*.
