how many lumes would you recommend for veg ? flower ? etc etc

doing a bit of reading, and found out how to work out how many lumens my light will give off in my tent

MH 600w x 90 lumens 54000 divided that by 5 sq/ft = 10800, which iv read that 10,000 is a perfect light/lumens , but is this for veg ? flower etc etc

could i mix the light lummes up, to give beater yeid ? would it be bad to go above the 10,000 lumens ?

any feed back at all would be very grateful

You can never have too much light. You CAN, however, have too much heat. More lights = more heats = more exhaust needed. If you are choosing to go this route, be sure to use a fan with high (250-400) cfm. Lumens are lumens, as far as I know. No more are needed for flower than were needed for veg. Use as many lumens as you can! Good luck!

thanks for the quick reply Dominthan mate ;)

OK, so it would be best to use max amount of light/ lumens , but yet keep the temps down, hmmmm im sure there must be good lights out there that can help to vent the heat ?

thank's again for the reply/info Dominathan :) ;)

General rule of thumb is:

3000 lumens/sqft for veg
5000 lumens/sqft for flower

5 sqft? What size is your tent/box? 600w in 5sqft is going to be a bear to try and keep cool.

If your serious about this, this is one of the best lights ever (if you were asking me, at least). I run two of them, and LOVE it. You simply put "active" ducting (ducting connected to a fan) n both sides, and the lights will stay as cool as a pool. I have a friend who did a makeshift one too that working just as fine, but I'm not that handy. Put your mind to it, and there's always a way!

I would study up more about PAR ratings rather than lumens. Plants do not see lumens. They feed off the photosynthetically active radiation.....and yes Dom you can have too much light...

The sun (a plants "optimal" growing fixture) provides 15k per SQUARE FOOT. If ventilation is proper, the THERE CAN NOT be too much light.

Its actually closer to 10k. And thats in equitorial regions at high noon. Us northern hemisphere growers rarely will see that intensity of light. Maybe peak summer(now)for an hr or 2 a day if your really lucky. But again lumens do not matter, its the PAR rating that matters. Ever hear of light bleaching? There does come a point when excess intensity becomes counterproductive to the plant....

my tent is 1.2m W 1.2L 2.M H , near enough 5sq/ft he reply, thank's for the reply mate

thank's for the info, will 100y the PAR , be greatful if you have any good link's/read's ? thank's again mate

I know what PAR ratings are bro. I really hope you aren't trying to teach me about growing, lol. Not to say I don't have more to learn. Our friend asked about lumens though. And in all honesty, I doubt he will exceed maximum lumens (which I'm not sure if it'd be possible to exceed in a grow space, with artificial light). I'm not trying to argue, but please don't try to discredit helpful advice. It's like saying that time travel is possible because we can travel the speed of light.
