Help identifying a strain ?

Hello ... my very first post on the forum, and I hope I placed it in the correct place. This is a BIG forum !

In the mid '80s I smoked a weed that was very interesting to me, and I would love to figure out what it probably was.

It was less green, and was more of a sandy brownish color with a green tint. It did have some orangish / red in it, and it had quite a lot of small seeds.
It produced a VERY different smell though. It smelled sweet, smooth, and musty.
It smoked rather smooth with a sweet and musty flavor that seemed to impart an a mouth feel that made you think you had fine dust left in your mouth.
The high was not overly intense, and would not make you drugged out lazy, but it was relaxing and fun.

Can anyone help with this ? Thanks

Being that it's from the 80s helps narrow it down a lot, they didn't have as many strains like we do today.
Probably just some decent Mexican commercial sativa. That's just a guess though. Probably no way to know for sure.

As kmksrh21 mentioned above, it was likely an Oaxacan variety (Mexican) or perhaps a Colombian breed. Both strains are sativas and produce a head-high, rather than a couch-lock stone. These varieties are not over-powering and also have a fruity, yet spicy aroma. The Colombians tend to have a more gold/orange hue when ripe, while the Mexican varieties tend to look more reddish.

Thanks guys ... I knew it was probably a long shot. I was told back then it was Columbian ... But you know how that goes.
