ever since i transplanted into 5 gallon buckets the plants have slowed down in growth and i flipped them 6 days ago and they have only grown (1/2 inch or so).

i cut draine holes on the bottom but none on the sides! just went in and did it and the water is so wet and i watered 6 days ago...am i stupid? do you need drain holes on the sides. the buckets stand flush to the bottom

Drainage holes on the side would help a lot with water drainage, which is vital. Btw...

and the water is so wet

I think that's how water's supposed to be... Lol

Buckets have a tendency to create a seal around the bottom when sitting on a flat surface inhibiting good drainage. So I always put holes on the bottom and the sides.

After transplanting into 5 gallon buckets, I water till runoff, and leave them for a week. The bottom half of the bucket doesn't even have roots yet, so as the top half is drained off by the plant it sops up moisture from the bottom. Watering might be once a week for 2 weeks, depending on your environment.

They're probably waterlogged. After transplant and 12/12 (I do the same thing, 5 gal buckets) they usually explode in growth. Let them sit for a week.

What did you transplant them from? Was it like a 1gal bucket to a 5 gal bucket? or like a 3gal bucket to a 5gal bucket? Either way, your plants are having slow growth because it's focusing on making new roots to fill up all that new soil. I would have given it a couple weeks to recover from any stress and let the roots fill out before flipping it over to flower, so that the plant can focus on growing branches and leafs instead of roots. Your plant will always focus on growing it's roots before the rest of it.
