Just in time for Summer!
Harvest of outdoor Blue Himalaya, day 62, 2.5 oz wet.
Visual (naked eye) inspection: frosty, light mint green, slight brown cast, most pistils are brown/dry.
10x loupe: trichomes 80% milky, 20% amber, nice grouping.
Smell: berry, fruity, fresh Kush. Mild amount of odor, easily controlled. mmmm Kushberry!
Drying method: Enclosed, airated, tree-shaded, un-conditioned dry room, ambient temps (low:72 deg at night, 70% RH; high: 90 deg mid-day, 36% RH).
Cure: mason jars, conditioned, 77 deg, <20% RH.
Why did I harvest now? My naked eye inspection told me it was time; magnification confirmed this. The buds look almost like they would were they dry. I like a middle of the road maturation with mellower smoke, fewer breakdown components, with full effect, but less of a crash (ie, sleep). Especially in an indica, the longer maturation the heavier the stone. I don't know the strain, but I do know the genetics. This full effect smoke should give me an idea of what the effects would be with an earlier vs later harvest, high vs stoned effect, respectively, and I can adjust to my tastes.
Peace!
