Spring Break watering?

i planted couple days agoand waiting for the sprout. but i realized this today, i have spring break in 2 weeks, what should i do about the watering. Its a soil medium and I water every other day. So it will need 2 waterings without me there. And im not letting anyone know that i have it so no one can come water it for me, any ideas??

Well for one you might be watering too much as it is...every other day is a lot


I would say if you aren't going to be there for sure....and you aren't telling anyone......I would water the hell out of it the day you leave and cross your fingers for when you get back....there's really nothing else you can do if you aren't going to tell anyone.

You can also try to make a drip system....but that requires some effort and patience, it's up to you

shouldnt be that expensive....buy from walmart or something and return that shit when u get back....

How do you know he waters too much? Have you seen his setup, know his temperature, know the amount of medium being used or whats in it?

Stop making stupid, generic comments.


My suggestion, SOAK THE HELL out of the girls, and put a train tray underneath. Soak the train tray to the top. The girls might be soaked for a day or two, but eventually it will dry. Plants go through droughts all the time, they aren't going to die. If they do get extremely dry, when you water then they will grow fast.

Wow you're so good at what you do you told him exactly what I told him....it's generally a good idea not to water that much that's all I was saying go take your meds and stop freaking out

just water the shit outta the plants the minute right before you leave then they should be fine and then give them a good watering when u get back and u hsould be fine hope this helps

if they need watering every couple of days then they probably need re-potting. so re-pot them into the biggest pots you can get away with. that will give you more time but also...

buy a tray to fit them all in or some trays, whichever. a bucket or plastic box - a small reservoir is what im getting at. something to raise the height of the plants, so the tray is the same height or higher than the rim of the reservoir. the last thing you need is some capillary matting, they sell this at nurseries and garden centres, cheap as chips. put a sheet of the matting in the trays and a few strips in the trays and running along into the reservoir. fill the res with water and wet the matting, to start the capillery action.

as the plants use up the water the matting will draw the water along
it will cost around £8 for everything assuming you have none of it at the moment.

to recap:
reservoir
tray(s)
capillary matting
something to raise the height of the plants so the matting doesnt drain the reservoir all over the floor)
