When Do You Consider It "Day 1" ??

Do you call it day 1 from the moment its sprouted and its cotyledons are open, or do you call it after a certain amount of nodes?

I've heard from the moment it pops it's head up out of the soil till 2 weeks it's a seedling. Then you start counting vegging days. So a plant vegged for a month is 1 and a half months from seed.

This is actually true. You are in seedling growth for 2 weeks from sprout. Then, when you start to see significant growth, the plant is in vegetative growth.

For me it's the moment you try and germinate it. So for me day one is when I soak the seeds for 4-6 hours.

for me day 1 is the first day the seeds are put into soil. then from there its going to veg for about four-five weeks depending on the strain.
i believe u can call it day 1 of flower when u see budsites are starting to pop, but everyones system is different. but yeah i think "DAY 1" (dundundun) should definitely be the first day ur putting them in soil. its not the first day u see a sproutling out of the soil, because the seed has already began its life cycle and just because it doesnt sprout out of the soil right away, doesnt mean anything, it is still growing a root ball and system under the soil which you cant see.

Thanks for all the replies, so really what im gathering is that most people have different considerations on what they consider their Day 1. There are two different answers here that to me both make sense, but do contradict each other, first being the two week period then counting at start of veg. And the other being FriendlyTokez comment above. As he does have a point that the seeds life cycle has begun once it begins to germinate and roots begin to travel into the soil.
So i guess really it all comes down to personal preference. Im just looking for a general rule of thumb as most people keeping a journal here, keep a running total of days from start to finish was just trying to figure out when i should start counting

Day 1 is the day you start, the first day of the grow, the beginning, or at least that's what common sense is telling me. I don't really see the day as having any relevance to the level of growth. In the same way i count flowering from the start of 12/12, not when i decide they're officially flowering. Just makes things a bit easier for me

At the end of the day it doesn't matter whatsoever and will have absolutely zero impact on the growth of your plant

aaah i hate these debates. i just give my plants enough time to grow buds..... lol

day 1 for me is when i get clones. then i have another "day 1" starting at flowering so that i know how long they've been on 12/12, all of the strain info that i see states the number of days or weeks for flowering for particular strains.

rule of thumb: forget day 1. switch to flowering when the plant is 1/2 or 1/3 of the height you want. harvest when you see milky/amber trichomes.

I started my day 1 from when it was out of the soil and im counting my days in veg and than days in flowering.
