you can raise males to make a number of things. pollen for blonde hash/oil/butter etc any refining method of extracting cannabinoids. it just isn't typically worth it unless you're growing fields of dope and it would be either impossible or impractical to grow sinsemilla.
in countries like morocco and afghanistan most of their commercial cannabis comes in the form of hash collected from the pollen and trichomes sifted or pounded from both male and female plants, before being pressed into bricks, so yes - males absolutely can be used. but if you have limited space and time, its much more economical to spend the energy used to raise a male plant on a female one instead.
i always try to raise my strongest male to collect the pollen for seeding.
to answer your question though, no, you cannot get bud (female cannabis fruit) from a male plant.
