Hydro Plan - 2 Plant ebb and flo.jpg
Hey Everyone.
So i am not new to growing but i am new to hydro. I'm fairly confident i have figured out a workable system and would like input as to simple ways i can improve the design (if you think it will work at all, i think it should). I will growing from clones that i take off my White widow mother. I plan to root them in 4" rockwool cubes. they be left as just cubes until well rooted (protruding block). I then plan to move these rooted clones to each of the chambers of my design. Hopefully i can root them in 1-2weeks before vegging them for 4-5weeks before finally putting them to flower. I am planing on using Advanced Nutrients new Jungle Juice 3-part line with voodoo juice and bud candy and plan on being conservative with it(about 3/4 strength maximum from their max. recomended on bottle/feed chart). I have the grow area set up already with my mother in it currently but will be moving her to flower soon so i will have the veg room open for buisness. Anyways all input is appreciated and i look forward to your suggestions.

Looks interesting enough, I just made a flood & drain myself, havent got to us it with plants yet, but tested out great, but check it out, was cheap and easy to use... link is in my sig.

Good luck!

Hey reverof. Thats a nice system you got yourself there. I find it amazing how inexpensive a workable hydro system is to put together. I realize some of the pre fabricated systems will work better but for the money i spent on this( ~$60-70) i will be more than happy if i get any decent results. Id hate to spend topdollar on a hydro system to find out i'm no good at it and i should stick to soil. Anyways heres to us who have the skills to make and design our own for cheap.
best of luck with the DIY flood and drain..

Thanks for the well wishes... i plan doing a full journal when i start the grow... prob 3-4 weeks... just waiting on my mother to grow a little more... pretty exciting though i just got the 3 bottles of jungle juice and to my surprise also a couple of powder additives (CarboLoad,Big Bud, and Bud Blood) that im not sure what im going to do with as i already have the additives i was gunna use(Voodoo, Budcandy, Overdrive,Florilicious +). i may try incorporating the samples but who knows as i was originally planning to use a simple nutrient solution. Anywas thanks again for the good wishes and hopefully i can give you a good word on the jungle juice line

By the looks of your ebb and flow set up - please correct me if I'm wrong - you are basically going to use a big tote and set 2 smaller totes on top of it and use that as your flood and drain.

If that's accurate, you need to consider how you are going to change your res. You don't really want to be moving your plants around in flower if you can help it.
I used to do something similar, but I built a stand out of 2x4 that allowed the res to be slid out from under the totes supported above it... I don't have any pics but it's pretty self explainatory.

Yep that was my plan. I see your point about changing the res, didnt really occur to me. Was kind of thinking i would just be able to lift the lid of the large tote and place it on a second tote with the new nutrient solution but i do enjoy your idea of a simple 2x4 frame so i simply pull one res out and throw the new one in.

Thanks for the advise

I plan to start growing in it, shortly like in the next week. I have done some minor modifications and got it all almost in place and ready to go. I am very happy with it and for $300-$500 cheaper than buying a pre-fab!

Don't get me wrong.. you can lift it off or move the plants if that's what works for you. Once they get bigger in flower you won't want to move them around much.
I don't see why you couldn't just do that for veg, but I would suggest trying to find something a little more user friendly for flowering.
Good luck with everything :)

yea... already workin on a 2 x 4 fram my res will sit under and tray will sit on top of... lol i can def see it gettin kinda akward to switch res when ive got a 2-31/2' tall plant stickin out of it... especially considering the tote lid is not all that structurally stable.
