my water ph is 6.5 exact but soil ph is 7.5. should i lower and how?
I am using sunshine 4 soil mix. That is what all the hydro shops carry around here. My soil is sitting at 6.8 and I am adjusting the water to 5.0 I use GH 3 part Flora nutes. I only feed once weekly and have not even given full strength yet.Ratty, what are you lowering your water ph to? and what is ph of your soil?
Also what kind of soil are you guys using??? perhaps try flushing the soil, you might have a salt build up, which is cause it to rise?
I move the top inch of soil and push it in as far is it goes and leave it for 1 minute. I water every 4-5 days depending when the soil dries out. there is no sign of bugs or mold nothing like that. here is a couple better pics I just took. If you have any other sugestions what is causeing this please let me know.errrrr.....
how far down into the soil is the meter? I dont think that your soil ph is causing that. 6.8 is not really even that bad.
How often do you water? Do you have bugs perhaps?
I have only adjusted the ph once. I just bought it because my soil ph was a little high. before I used it my soil was at 6.8 and still is. I use only bottled water with nutes has ph just over 6. what can I do to correct this?? today is watering day the soil is dried right out so today would be the best day for me to do something. any help is appreciated.Ratty,
Your earlier post said your adjusting your water to 5...if you are this is the problem.
Your water after nutes should be 6.3 to 6.8 (for soil).
What you see in the leaves are Ph problems.
i love this question !!!Just curious how are you testing your soils ph?
Hi i know im a lil late but i was wondering where to get a good ph meter. i looked on ebay and they only have the cheap ones the only test soil or only test water. i want a good accurate one that i can use for both testing water and soil, i seen the $200 ones with the probes for lab quality but im not sure even how to use it if i buy it(do i just stick it in the soil or water???). anyways and help would be appreciated.i love this question !!!
and then they show the three way probe that is worth nothing but a moister meter.
if you buy soil for vegies at the local store with out to much added nutes your ph should be o.k. when you water if you are keeping your ph between 6.0-6.8 after adding nutes(check ph after mixing nutes to water) your soil will adjust to the watering ph in no time.
again those meters are shit !!! if you have to buy pool test strips, this will get you in range. best if you can spend $50 and get a decent digi meter off ebay.
...good luck.
pH is only defined for aqueous solutions - completely dry soil has no pH. When you measure the pH of soil it is the pH of the water contained in the soil that you are measuring. Is your soil 7.5 dry, or wet?
