Prepaid credit cards. Do they REALLY provide any anonymity?

Just checked my card history online. The charge indeed went through! So there's the answer if you needed it. nFinanSe works without registering a name, address, SS# or anything. All you have to do is establish a PIN and you're on your way regardless of what the documentation claims. Sweet.

I got this at CVS:

I put $300 on it at CVS in cash. No registration of any kind. It was good-to-go.

I came home and spent $297 at the Attitude:

Nice!

Suhweet. Man, $297 in seeds. My mouth just waters thinking of all the different strains you could get with $297.

So do you think a gift card is better than a prepaid CC? What was the fee for the GC? The CC was $3, plus they immediately deducted $2.95 as a monthly fee. I thought that was kind of high.

hehehe.. i went with all mostly a buttload of feminized autoflowers (for outside or maybe the veg room) and one pack of regular ones so that I can make auto seeds..
I liked the gift card better.. It was 4.95 and doesn't even offer an option of adding money or anything.. You just fill it up and use it up.
I am getting a bunch of freebies, which is interesting..

I opted to have the original seedbank packages removed and for them to be repackaged... but now I wonder if they will still be labeled some how?

If not, I will be slightly confused about a handful of them...

That's cool about the vanilla card. What kind of registration did u have to do? Forgot to mention the 2.95 fee they also deduct when u activate your card. As far as billing address u can just use the same as shipping address and name. Whatever u make that out to be. But once u enter ur 16 digit and create a pin your good to order. After u get done with the card toss it. As far as the tudes packaging they will be individually labeled. Hope that helps. And u only need to provide ur SSN and address n etc when u want to reload it and keep the card for awhile

Vanilla card was easy.. I paid for it at CVS and the girl activated it right there.
I came home and purchased my order on the attitude.
The $4.95 fee was upfront, too. So I paid $304.95 at CVS and got a working card.

It has no name, address, phone, ssn, nothing..

The balance was $300 (I checked via website).

It processed on the first try.

This is very easy. This was easier than the last one I got, which has some extra bullshit AND I didn't even sign up with my SSN on that one...

FYI, in case anyone makes the same mistake I did. The nFinanse card indeed does not need to be registered to use the initial loaded funds, but if you try to add funds to it, you will be required to register. I found this out the hard way today. Your best bet if you use this card (and others like it I assume) is to use up all the funds and then discard the card and buy a new one. Also, know that nFinanse deducts $2.95 every month, including right away when you activate the card. This is in addition to the charge for initializing the card.

I think next time I will just buy a gift card.

thank you for the update and corroboration, that is a big deal when dealing with these type of cards
my yardstick is cash, usps international priority mail is often recommended by many banks, and it did work for me every time
but that was around $15 the last time i used it

They'll still be labeled bro :)

Peace out

After reading several threads and other documents devoted to the need for using prepaid credit cards for any online purchases of seeds or growing equipment, I started searching for one of these cards that will supposedly hide my identity in the case of any prying eyes into my credit card activity. Most discussions I have seen stress this as being an absolute necessity. The problem is that every card I have found (Walgreens, Wal-Mart, K-Mart) requires registration with a social security number. On the back of the Green Dot card I found at Wal-Mart today, it even says this is a federal law.

I don't understand how a prepaid card provides me any level of anonymity at all if I have to register it with my SS#. How is that any different than simply using my personal credit card? If anything, it almost seems MORE risky as LEO would simply have to monitor prepaid card activity rather than watching all credit usage.

I've been a little paranoid since buying my light and first seeds as I used my personal CC for those. This was before reading all the documents claiming this is tantamount to staking a "Ask Me About My Marijuana Garden" sign in my front yard. I plan to make a few more purchases soon and want to be smart about it.

Please advise.
your a fool get a gift card done......................

You know what, man, first of all, it's not a pointless thread. As a new grower, I was concerned with protecting myself. I do not live in a legal state, so anyone in my position who does not consider the possible legal ramifications of this hobby is an idiot. Not all of us are as naturally wise as you so obviously are, so it helps to discuss these things with others.

Secondly, before you start criticizing others for their "pointless threads," perhaps you ought to look at some of your own threads:

Best place to buy autos Nirvana or Attitude Wow, this one hasn't been done before. Bravo for a truly unique and thought-provoking discussion. Of course, you do realize there is an entire subforum devoted to this very topic, right? And yet you didn't post it there. Fascinating.

Ok so ima try autos were should I buy them +rep I guess you thought it was such an original topic that it deserved two separate threads, both in the wrong subforum by the way. But then, you obviously know that since you are so well-versed in this shit. Must have been a creative decision.

Best soil and Fert +rep Wow, another lowrider original. No one has ever thought to start a thread about fertilizers and soil before. Perhaps I misjudged you. Oh and I notice you have started this +rep thing. The begging for replies is a nice touch.

Now I am certain you will come back with some witty and grammatically mangled insult that anyone unlucky enough to have stumbled onto this pointless thread will have to decipher, so I will just go ahead and tell you now that I am not going to get in some pointless internet fight with you. I will say this, though: Go fuck yourself. Now that "does" make me feel better.
