Light question

I have a 600w hps light,have had it for about 6-8months,it is starting to blacken at the edges,not badly,but you can see it when the light is off,my question is am i better off using this or my brand new 400w???

That's not a good thing. You should replace your bulb with the proper wattage. Remember you can't use a 400w HPS on a 600w HPS Balast

Yeah don't worry,i do know that,i have 2 ballasts,and they are labelled lol,just wondering if the 600w is about knackered? or still ok to use? or should i just use the new 400w?

i change my bulbs every 9 months.....

I change my HPS every 6 months and MH every 12 months.

i only run mine in 12 hour shifts..............

MH and HPS should be replaced when they are 6 months old depending on how many hours of grow time they have on it. As soon as they get discoloration then its time to change the bulb out.
