ok starting to run into even more problems...the nutes i'm using is scotts select plant food - all purpose. on the back, it says this stuff has continuous release feeding for up to 3 months... does this mean i just sprinkle some on top of my soil, and every time i water it nutrients will be fed?

here's some pics of my plants for reference
plant 1:

example of dying leaf

other plant

some dying leaves on plant 2

as you can see, most of my large fan leaves are starting to die and rot off. for the most part, the plants seem very healthy other than the bottom larger leaves..PLEEEEEEEASE HELP!?!

Sometimes one just grows faster than the others. I wish I could help you out with nutes and whatnot. I'm on my first grow (thanks for stopping by), and I used MG potting soil w/ nutes in it; so I'm the last guy you'd want advising you on nutes.

I can tell you that you should add nutes to your water and then pH it. The pH your water should be depends on the pH of your soil. If you don't know the pH of your soil, you should pH your water to about 6.5. Your plants look pretty good for the low nute levels. Those things are about to shoot up if they are provided proper nutes, light, and water. You should do a search for what nutes to use. I wish I could help more, but I've been growing for exactly 42 days, and am far from an authority on the subject.

Good luck buddy.

word...thanks for the advice man. did you add any nutes to your soil. or are you just using strictly miracle grow potting soil? that's what i used originally, but when i transplanted, i went to bigger pots and just got a huge bag of scotts premium (seemed to be the equivalent to the MG)

Congrat on you plant healing and you have a girl!!! Congrazzz!!
So what was the plants problem?!
honestly i'm not really sure.. i'm thinking they were a bit underwatered and had soaked up most of the nutrients from the soil. i sprinkled some more nutes on top of the soil and watered them, then they recovered a bit. a lot of the dying bottom leaves and the branches they were on just dried up and fell off

here's another update guys.... i transplanted my 2 ladies to some 5 gallon buckets today. one of my plants hasn't had much growth in the last few days, but the other one has shot through the roof. i figured maybe the roots were starting to get too big for the pots so i had to move them... hopefully everything goes smoothly
both ladies:

the short one :( :

the tall ass girl:

could root lock be the cause of the one plant not growing as fast as the other? i've done all the same stuff to both of them, so i'm not sure why the one on the left hasnt grown much lately

How many lumens are you going to use for flowering? I see that you have right now about 48000 now. Good Luck on the rest of your grow. I think i will be starting on monday with all cfl's. How much did all your lights cost?

i'm actually flowering right now. each of the bulbs in there are 23w cfls. i believe each one has ~1140 or something lumens per bulb. it would definitely be beneficial to have a few more bulbs, but i'm out of cash. as for how much it cost me, i think i got my bulbs in packs of 3 that cost like 9-10 bucks each. so, assuming you get a bunch of 6500ks for vegging, then 2700ks for flowering, youre prob looking at 60-70 bucks in bulbs. if you shop online you can prob find some stronger cfls, but i didn't have the time or money to pay for the extra shipping costs. good luck with your grow!

i'm assuming you're talking about the Y-splitters...they only cost like $2 each. the actual light fixtures were about 7 or 8 bucks each i believe. they came with some metal shield things around them to reflect the light in one direction, but you cant put the y-splitters on with the metal shield things. i bought all my bulbs at lowes. the highest watt cfls they carry are 23, so i'd look around if i were you to try and find some more powerful bulbs. just make sure youre getting the right bulbs (6500k for vegging, 2700k for flowering, although i got a few 3000ks because they were out of the 2700s when i went to the store one time)
