Why do gun enthusiasts always seem to be complaining about their guns being taken away? I'm not trying to be a dick, just honestly curious, it seems to be pretty common. Does this come up a lot?

From where I'm sitting it looked like the cop checked the guys sidearm for his safety then handed it right back to him. Agreed with and supported his right to record the encounter for his protection, then shook his hand and gave his information respectfully like a man. I'd buy the dude a drink if I knew where to find him, that impressed the fuck out of me. A lot of other people who carry a badge could learn a lot about the police/citizen relationship from watching this clip.

As mentioned before this wouldn't happen in my neck of the woods. Watching this video is something that is foreign to my eyes and i find it very disturbing.
This is not protocol, it isn't for his safety, none of this is law and is unconstitutional.
Are you a marine? what the fuck does that have to do with anything.
The only thing im required by law for open carry of any fully loaded gun of my liking is
A. be 18 or older
B. no previous felonies
Those two things are confirmed with the gun counter clerk, not the police man on the street that sees you open carry.
This entire situation was highly unorthodox and not protocol by any means, again its very disturbing.

haha i believe you, i only have a couple .22's and a 4/10 just for target shooting and such, ...i'm not against guns, just so you know.

either way, whatever makes you happy, is the right thing. so i hope we're cool and i do love the united states, been to over half of the states, but i do love canada aswell.

because someones always tryin to throw somthin to get them taken away...i couldnt imagine life without them... its hard to see a bear fall with nothin in my hands but a stick...but damn thats some good meat (makes my mouth water thinkin)....plus....IF shit hits the fan, im not goin to make it easy...

and why should the government require a license to own a handgun in your home? why should the government have any say as to whether you can carry a handgun on your person, my government only gets nosy when i want to hide that gun in my wasteband.

man its just so weird... my step-mother has family out in Arkansas, and they have rifles loaded at every door! its just so hard to picture that here in canada, you know?

and as you said, you can't picture life without guns. just over a borderline yet so many differences

i dont know where you live, but some places dont have people like your neighbors. not everyone knows how to use a gun safely. theres a lot of idiots out there. i think the cop did what he shouldve done. what if it was a gun with the serial numbers shaved off? should the cop just not check?
plus if i was a cop, there is no way in hell id let some random guy stand there with a loaded gun while hes talkin to me. secure the weapon, then talk.

and yea that cop was only playing nice because the guy had a camera. did you all hear how he played that up at the end. gave him a hand shake, badge number and "god bless". never heard a cop talk like that to me before.

End of story.
