okay, okay.. done alot of homework over the last year and a half and FINALLY its time to take it on myself... My grow space is 6' x 2' x 7' tall and I have a 20 Gal res with 4 plants. I think I have everything covered with the exception of temp and odor control. I set up my light the other day and my temp got up to 110 F! After a fan its down to 90. Is this ok? Will it dramaticly affect my crop? I've seen 85 degrees is the max, but I've also seen some crazy everglade shit and that stuff is rarely in weather cooler than 95. Just wondering about other experiences with high temps.. here are some pics... tell me what you think.:joint:

Im on board. Good luck!

You'll love DWC once you work out the kinks. And getting yourself an HID to start with.....Saved you a bunch of time.

CFL'ers dont get mad @ me. :peace:

90's is too high of a temp for optimal growth (doesnt mean your plants wont live or grow. Just alot slower/less yield)....And you need to keep the temp of you nutrient solution under 75f as well.

As light tight as possible. Once your babies get an inch or two above the rockwool.....Get something to cover the cups and keep light out. If not....problems soon follow.

thanks man.. do you think I could achieve an even lower temp by more fans? i know its only blowing around hot air but it seemed to help with one in there.. venting is not an option, am I going to have to put an air conditioner in a 2 foot wide area?

Can you leave the door open some? You'll have to. Do you run your ac alot?

Another fan may help. Getting another one thats stationary/blowing air between light and plant tops may help some too. I grow in a small space with poor venting as well. Alot like yours. But I can keep my temps about 85-86f max.

yeah I've been keeping the door open lately.. drops it to about 83, going to get another fan though... I read this all the time on other journals and now I find myself saying it, I cant believe how fast they are growing! its crazy.. they just popped two days ago and already one set of leaves on 2+ inch plants. nuts. Anyway, I'm thinking to wait a couple weeks and then start the mild nutes. As you can see in the pic I'm using B.C. grow, bloom and boost. Plan on taking 4 clones off these plants for the next crop... still praying for at least one female, two would be awesome.

Now for my questions...how important is humidity? I check temps, PH and PPM but not humidity..should I start? also, how far away would you have a 400wt HPS from these babys, I know its probably overkill right now but I see others use them on seedlings..

No pics necessary.. they're growing fast, but not that fast.

I toss mine under the HID as soon as they pop. Just not too close. You should hold off on the nutes like you said until you get a good root system. No need to rush. They'll be ok for a while.

Humidity should be checked. My little wal-mart gauge reads temp/hum. 40-50% RH is fine.

Cool. As long as you can keep the temps down and not have anyone walk in on your grow....keep it cracked during lights on.

You're off and running from the way it looks. Its all worth the effort in the end. :blsmoke:

also, a word of advise for people going with the tote resevoir.. Don't buy a cheap one.. when I filled mine up with water it pushed the sides out and now my lid doesn't fit correctly.. I'm going to try to rig up some clips to keep it tight, but now I wish I would have spent an extra 3 bucks on the Roughneck one. Btw my res is 20 gal.

Yeah once I get some real venting going I hope to get some better grows. And looking in on your plants alot is a good thing. You catch all the minor changes good/bad. And they love it when you're in there breathing......exhale

Thats one of the reasons I changed to buckets. The tubs are pretty flimsy when full of solution. I used alot of duct tape to keep the lid fitting on the res properly. You'll get ALOT of algae if you leave the res exposed to light.

I picked mine up at a hydro shop. I have 2 32oz jars. I think they were like $15 each or something like that. Cant remember.
