What can we do to actually make medical marijuana a reality here in FL?
I don't quite understand the article. Chronologically the way the bills went the MMJ law was introduced and struck down before the mandatory drug testing for welfare applicants, which passed with flying colors despite it's lack of a constitutional leg to stand on. The legislature may be talking about MMJ, if they are they're laughing at us in the halls of the giant penis on the hill in Tallahassee, not talking about allowing any freedom into this state.
I wrote a FOIA request on the minutes of the Senate Subcommittee for Criminal Justice meetings where the MMJ bill was discussed, that was just about a month and a half ago, so far I've not heard anything from Tallahassee.
Sorry to be a 'rain cloud' but the person who wrote this article didn't follow chronological events. Ultimately MMJ was struck down without any senatorial discussion, and the drug testing passed pretty much without 'call' for discussion.
I think that speaks pretty loudly about the way our legislature operates. Either someone is shelling out $$ to keep it off the floor or they're so entrenched in their puritan ideals that they won't even consider what modern 1) economics 2) medicine and 3) law enforcement/detention all have found to be beneficial to society.
We may be intellectually the most dominant species on the planet, but from time to time I honestly think that our development has been more handicapable than anything else.
