2 things that make me want to convert to CMH are;
almost no heat.
"whiter" light, making pictures better.
the main thing stopping me;
the highest watttage they come in is 400, i run 6's

I went from a 1000Mh to the ceramic and have raved about it to my customers.
reasons
1. heat, the bulb can be cooled with a fan
2. spectrum, best of any bulb on market
3. Notice way closer nodes since switching.
4. price of equipment is cheaper
5.price of electricity is less for better results, that's a no brainer

Right on, so could would (2)-400watt cmh bus need top be vented outside like a600hpps our are they really cool enough to just run without exhausting? In just trying to get a feel for a much heat the would generate in a closet that has a 6 inch intake and a 6 inch exhaust into a bedroom. I know the hps would heat up the bedroom way to much but would those cmh do the same?

So you really only cool it with a fan and ruin no intake of cool air? And how many 400s replaced your 1000 mh?

1-400cmh, replaced 1,1000wattmh
using a laser thermometer, the 400cmh measured around 100 degrees at the bulb and in the 90's around it. I only use it to veg, but have read of people using it to flower, I flower with 1000watt hps, but am thinking of adding a 400cmh to that. I also have read that phillips is working on a 600

i am going to flower with it soon i'll let you know the results i have my journal going. i am going to use CMH 400s to replace all my 1000s for veg just a better spectrum with less power use. and i can fun open bulb instead of having to run hoods and air cool. pretty awesome, but for flowering 1000s still yield heavier. i can't wait for them to make a CMH 600 that will be amazing

The color of pic's can be changed by using the White Balance in the camera. Most little point and shoots have a way to modify this setting and any decent Digital SLR with certainly have it
