Just curious what you guys think....I got 7 bag seeds from some schwag...

I put them in a wet paper towel about 2 and a half days ago....About 24 hours ago the first one sprouted....

So far that's the only one that has sprouted.....

You think the rest of the seeds are bad ?

The first to sprout is not always the best plant. Give them up to about 5 days to sprout. Then veg them for about 6 weeks until you see preflowers. The best ones are the females. ;)

The seeds could be bad or it could be your method of germination?
If their too wet this will ruining them if their too dry they won't
germinate but you can add water and they will germinate. Here
some I germinated almost 3 weeks ago their a ready to be put
in flower any day now. This is one week with flo's and two weeks
400w MH  I only veg 3-4 weeks?

If you are using feminized seeds then there is no need to wait for preflowers to form for obvious reasons.

Some seedlings will show preflowers before others and I have had the odd one do this at week 4, but when it comes to bagseed you really want to wait until preflowers before switching. An extra week or two is worth your while to weed out males.

one just cracked open, and you can barely barely barely see the white sprout....should I wait till it comes out more, or plant it now ?

Once the seed shell is cracked open that is enough to be able to plant them. How many have cracked so far?

1 cracked 24 hours ago and I planted it....and now this one just barely cracked open....

So two out of 7 so far....

I'll go plant that baby now then.

What is the best way to germinate seeds? Everyone has different opinions on this, but which germination procedure gives you a 100% germination? If the seed cracked open, shouldn't you wait until the tap root has appeared from the seed or like MRGETTOGROWER pics above!

I let those go a little long:lol: But they take off great like that! I like'em to have at least 1/2" root or whatever you call it! The ROOT GOES DOWNWARD with the seed just below the surface 1/4"! You got be careful in case the bag drys out it'll hurt'em! Here' how I do it! You never get 100% all 100% of the time! I have but shoot for 90% if you have really good seeds just because all seed don't pop!

Well after the first two popped open I took the rest of them and put them in a moist paper towel (more so I would call it wet) then I put the paper towel inside of a ziplock bag....
Then I put the bag on top of our dehumidifier in the cellar which gets pretty warm....

I did that about 15 hours ago or so....I just went down there now and the biggest of left of the bunch was cracked open....So that's 3 out of 8 schwagg bagseeds that have sprouted....

I also put these in party cups with saran wrap over the top.....I read somewhere saran wrap is good to put on them till them pop out of the soil.......Does anyone know why this is ? thanks :peace:

Warmth and Humidity. It is working just like a humidity dome. You should make a small hole though. Well, some do, some don't.

For my clones or seedlings, I place them into Rapid Rooters and then place them in styrofoam egg cartons. Then I place these into an 18 gallon rubber made tub with a clear top with (2) 42 watt CFLs just over that. I get pretty close to 100% on my clones with this ghetto set up. I would rather have a clone dome. I just never get around to ordering one, or driving the 60 miles to go get one. It is all about the humidity and temps, not the amount of money you spend.

Just curious....would not poking a hole (even a small one) in the saran wrap defeat the purpose, and release the humidity and lower the temperature ?

Planting directly into soil and keeping it warm and moist I have had 100% success out of probably around 40-50 bag seeds

The higher Humidity of the air will make it sink. The hole is just to allow a little fresh air to enter, from a little of the wamr air riseing and cooler air droping into the area. This is why I said some people do, and some people do not. I do, and I have great success. But there are a lot of ways to skin a cat and get the same pelt.

I decided to take off the saran wrap...I sprouted a seed from soil about a month ago under the same conditions without it .....Plus that one has been in the soil for around 2 days or so and still has yet to sprout....

I just checked on the other 5 remaining and still nothing....I think I might give it another day.....If nothing happens with the remaining seeds I am thinking of scratching the outside of the seeds, and maybe juicing them with some super thrive.....that's the plan anyways....

Question: When you have a bunch of seeds from the same bag or batch do they all ususally sprout around the same time ? Or can it be days between sprouts? thanks :peace:

OK, So I made a little homemade box lined with sand paper.....Then I put the seeds in and proceeded to shake shake shake....shake shake shake....shake my seeds.....

Scuffed them up a bit...Then put them on a paper towel moist with diluted superthrive solution.....Then in a ziplock and on top of the dehumidifier to keep warm....We'll see how fast and of they crack at all now...

These seeds are the stubborn ones of the bunch....

Also if they crack I am going to put them in soil that's wetted down with superthrive, and I will compare growth of superthrive seeds vs non-superthrive seeds....

Here's some pics of my Scuff Machine lol
