what most people are forgeting is the size of room and matching the lighting for best possible outcome
for 90 percent of most growers heat issue is a major concern but also geologicaly it might not be a issue i use my heat in winter months from my lights. In summer without drawing to much attention of being flagged from electrical costs Re airconditioning etc etc got to suck it up and not run so many lights and by the way my room exceeds 14,000 watts
I got a 400 watt light and can tell you from experience that in veg state compared to running a single 1000 watt 400 was a fckin joke PERIOD in comparison in a 2 week side by side grow hahaha it was like watchin paint dry
Once you go to a 1000 watt set up you will never go down but increase your power so to the op dont waste your money by a 1000 watt and get good exhaustset up and your laughing hell theres ballests now that you can lower the power look into that you here people mention run 2 600 watters well now you got to lights producing heat ????? and 200 more watts look at the cost difference between two 600 watt set ups and 1 1000 watt set up ????
i run in summer 1 1000 watt on 8 foot motorized track thats so i get litterally 110,000 lumens on a 48 sq foot area
and last of all most true growers will tell you that a plant not directly under a light will grow faster for instance i rotate my plants
cause the plants directly under my lights seem not to grow as fast as my outter ones do
even tho i am 4 " away from tops re 1000 watts on a 8 foot motorized track
There not stretching what there getting is the is reflective lighting from the wallsI want to address your ending statement by saying, Maybe the Plants on the outside GROW faster cause their stretching more for the light. Just a thought.
Exactly day and night difference i put a 3 - 4 " clone under my 1000 watters and in 2 weeks there 18" tall and flipping into flower )..dunno, directly under the light is a heatspot (with a hps)
..its much more fun, growing with a big lamp, ive only tried 600w but the difference between that and f.e 400w mh is astounding, and the mh kicks the butt of any t5 cfl i tried before.
vegging with a big lamp gets things moving and larger, much quicker.
and i hear the 1000´s give the biggest buds.
so, if ya can handle the heat (and noise from the fans, f.e and more) then thats the way to go.
if. you are interested in growing and or need quite a bit of bud (daysmoker f.e) then the big lamps are where you are eventually gonna end up (most likely)
and so would save yourself quite a bit of money.
on the other hand, if you have never grown before, its easier starting out with the smaller lamps (or i think so) so might, f.e buy a 400w lamp (that does both mh and hps)
and run with that, till you are comfortable enough to upgrade to a bigger lamp and then use the 400w as a veglight..
f.e , but if you dont get intimidated by all the big wattage and huge fans and whatnot (some dont)
then by all means jump right ahead to the 1000w, its obvious from your writings that thats the lamp you really want.
How many plants are thoses and what lighting? Strain also! Beautiful sized bud sites! There not stretching what there getting is the is reflective lighting from the walls
What size tubing are you using to cool, and aare you adding anything else to lower the temps? Thats a nice distance! My 600w aircooled can be within 1inch, ive even had a bud grow straight upto the glass with no heat burn.

1" is a little extreme imo theres no better gains at that distance at 8 " away you will produce same amunt of lumens also adding some side light to other plants that close isn't necesaryWhat size tubing are you using to cool, and aare you adding anything else to lower the temps? Thats a nice distance!
Personally in that size of a room I would get 1 1000W cooltube. I see them at the hydro shop (I only have regular 400 HPS and 250 HPS) and they make me drool. I swear.Would 1 1000w cover an entire 6.5 x 6.5 x 2.5 area? I'm certain two 600's would cover that size. Yet, the sites i've checks the 600 watt cooltube's arre only $40 - $50 cheap than the 1000w cooltubes...
i use 6inch insulated flex ducting for the light rig with 400CFM fan. What size tubing are you using to cool, and aare you adding anything else to lower the temps? Thats a nice distance!
@Father: That's what I wanted to grow but I'm strapped for cash and I'm not wasting money on any seeds til I can grow bagseed. Once I can actually not retard through it, I'll give some good shit a go, haha.[/QUOTE
Thats wassup brother!! I'll post my equipment, lighting and growing styles for ya, and harvest weight so you can get a general idea of our strains potential. So far all I can say they love nutes early in veg, and they love the lumens.
not at all, 6 400's in flower and i like them allot generate literally no heat, plants can be very close. i am going to be throwing up 2 1000w in magnum xxxl hoods to see if i really get a good increase in yield (not sure but trying it anyway) i know 4 600's would do just as good (same watts) so i really want to try the 1000's and am pretty stoked about the change.Hop on this conversion! We need debate! Where are the 1000watters! The 400s, The 250s!! Scared to rep yyour lighting!
