Collecting male pollen

I've been reading alot here lately about males and pollen. I wanted to share with you how I was taught to collect the male pollen, so you dont have to continue buying yr seeds.

There is no need to pollenate a whole grow, this will allow you to selectively pollinate some of your lower bud sites and have seeds without infecting your entire grow. Sorta like having your cake and eating it too.

I do hope that some of you will use this to continue the lines of cannibis we all know and love, strong.

First off... the cutting.... the top of any male you're about to compost....

Next, the set-up, a plastic beer cup, with a hole in the bottom... a glass cup to hold some water....

pop him in...

And into the water cup....

All done.... the nice thing here is, you pop him into a window sill and he'll continue along on his mery way... as he comes to term, the pollen will collect in the bottome of the cup, a tap or 2 every so often can speed the process.... let him go as long as you wish to collect or he finishes....

Collect it all in a film canister... sit it in the window sill for a day or so to make sure it's good and dry and remove the flowers with tweezers..... add some rice to keep dry for storage and you have it... life in a bottle...

Enjoy...

Thanks, I am happy you like it.
I did forget to mention or just took it for granted, but at this point, just grab a Q-tip, or a model paint brush and apply.

id just take a leaf blower aim it at my grow room and throw the batch into the wind :D thatll get em good n seeded lol you'll never run out of seeds again.

Well it was a joke lol :D but seriously people if you get a chance to try this I am certain it will work .. just keep it in a controlled enviornment so it cant contaminate your ladies.

Great post videoman. I built a tent today to put my male in to keep him separate from my females untill he matures. Sounds like I can throw the tent away. Before I do, though, I just want to make sure that I understand correctly. Will the male top continue to live and mature in the water. Thanks again. This is going to free up alot of valuable space for me.

videoman, when painting on the pollen do you just rub the pistils with the brush, and is each pair of pistils a seed in the making?
thanks

dude video i feel like you actually reinvented the fukin wheeland it way better now, seriously you are the man, the videoman....LOL

seriously i hope a lot of the classic tekiques and basics continue to circulate thrughout this new era of home gardening since all this new age stuff is starting to appear to people in general as written in stone. as if ppl forgot about the sun rain and the ground too.
it makes me feel all warm inside thinkin about ure tactics dude!

I just found a B52 male in my grow room today and thanks to this kick ass thread, i am now going to collect his pollen and someday cross him. =D

Thanks a bunch Videoman =D SMOKE ON!!

I am so glad you all like this thread! Share the knowledge we all learn.
With knowledge we all become stronger.
Now, if we could only get this beautiful plant legalized.

May I make a suggestion for all those who do this?

First off I like your method of collecting pollen, a bit different than than mine! I place foldeded post it notes along the branches to collect the pollen.

Ok heres my suggestion for all of you who use this method.

When you cut a branch off to collect the pollen from, first make sure there are several flower pods. Second, make a nice clean 45 degree cut and place cutting in a cloning solution right away (like Hormex) and let soak for a minute in the solution and then place in cups as described in this thread. Instead of using plain tap water, use a light dose of the Hormex solution in your water.
By doing this you can (clone) continue on that males strain. This will give you all the male pollen you'll ever want down the road. Pollen can be stored only for a very short time, and it's really best to keep in fridge in a film canister or something that light can't penetrate. Light will destroy pollen over time. By placing in fridge you can extend the life of your pollen.

Anyway those are my suggestions if you want to clone and keep a good male strain around!

Excellent post! Glad to see others expanding their horizons!

Pollen can be stored for long peroids of time in the freezer. Make sure its air-tight though. Otherwise it only lasts a few weeks.

Great thread mate! ive kept the pollen before but your way is much easier :)
i agree only put it on your bottom colas, then you have good bud uptop, and seed filled bud on the bottom.
One side of the cake with icing, one with out :)
