Pistols Brown, Need Some Info

Okay I have about 10 females just starting to poke their lil' white hairs out, but a few of the hairs have the brown tips which I have read means that the plant is pollinated. I did have a male but I chopped it at the first signs of sex, definitely before pollen sacks opened. There are two plants that still haven't showed their sex, and I have checked thoroughly for nuts. So what do you think? Does browning up definitely mean pollinated? Or does this sometimes happen?


Oh yeah this is outdoor, and I'm like 90% sure no neighbors are growing

Color change in the pistils has absolutely nothing to do with pollination. Your info is dead wrong. They change color as the plant matures, and a lot of people MISTAKENLY believe this has to do with being ready to harvest also. The pistils change color pretty much from the time they appear until you chop the plant. New ones form, change color, and more new pistils form, change color, and so forth. Again, nothing to do with pollination, and for future reference, almost zero to do with judging harvest time either.

I will say, if your plants just started flowering (ie these are the first sets of pistils showing) and most of them are going brown or orange that is usually not a good sign in my past experiences. typically means they are unhappy for some reason or another. On just about everything I have grown my pistils stay white until around week 5 or later depending on the strain unless something is amiss.

Most of the plants have nice white pistils but a couple of them are brown. They are the first set. pH is good, gave them half dose of Fox farm tiger bloom, though I believe the pistils were brown before I fed them this. Anything else you can think of that I should check that might be making the plants that have brown tipped pistils unhappy?

Hard to say without seeing it man. How's the weather been? Bad conditions outisde could be a possible cause. If it's only a couple pistils I wouldn't trip.

not too concerned but figured it was worth looking into. Weather has been fairly wet the past few days but the past month has been beautiful and sunny with some rain here and there.

But for reassurance, this does not mean pollination?

No, the only true sign of pollination as far as I am aware is a seed growing in the bract.
