more like 79%, while ron paul actually got more like 95%No, Not just a BBQ, She bought enough tickets to cover 89% of her votes.
The final number I read ended up being 4000.Rep. Ron Paul of Texas is also expected to place well at the straw poll. A source close to the longtime congressman from Texas tells CNN the campaign has moved a couple of thousand tickets to supporters. Paul came in fifth in 2007.
In that same article, Michelle bachmann gave away about 6,000 tickets. Bachmann gave away 1,250 more tickets and only one by 152 votes. The final number I read ended up being 4000.
My bad. It was 4750 ballots that Paul bought and gave a way.
AMES, Iowa — It appears that while Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann beat Texas Rep. Ron Paul by 152 votes in the Iowa Straw Poll on Saturday, she gave away far more admission tickets than he did.
Paul’s campaign gave out 4,750 tickets to straw poll voters, his campaign chairman, Jesse Benton, told The Daily Caller.
So? The point is, nobody can say that Bachmann bought that straw poll without admitting that Ron Paul tried to buy it too. RP spent another 31k for the best placed booth. That's about 170k spent by Paul on just the booth and ballots. Not sure what else he paid in terms of transportation and food and entertainment. In that same article, Michelle bachmann gave away about 6,000 tickets. Thanks for putting words in my mouth (I was not arguing whether or not RP was doing that). My only point to that is the effectiveness of their campaigns. The fact that Bachmann gave away more tickets and got a much smaller percentage of them to vote for her says something. So? And I am not saying there is anything wrong with what either one of them did. They are trying to win an election and this was a Promotional event for all the Republican candidates and the Iowa Republican party. Nothing more. Its what they are supposed to be spending their money on.
Did you watch the video? He has an incredibly valid point.John stuart should be the white house press secretary. He has the unique ability to distort the truth and stick to the talking points really well. plus hes a liberal
+1...Interesting how this is overlooked by many, yes?The fact that Bachmann gave away more tickets and got a much smaller percentage of them to vote for her says something.
