im a first time indoor grower, ive grown monster plants outside but never have done indoor. ive recently moved and when i went to check out my attic a HPS light with the ballast is just chillin there waiting to be used. it works great brand new in the box. but anyways i was wondering what medium i should start off with. i know hydro produces better buds but i personally have grown better buds outside than my buddy indoors with his hydro setup. (<-----weird) but im almost complete with my grow room 10ftx10ft but not using all of the room im leaving room to walk around have my nutrient solutions and other things used in the room such as fans and what ever i put my plants in. ill have pics up soon of my last years yield. fellow pot smokers/growers your help will be greatly appreciated and if your around my area i might let you get some of the indoor crop. stay stoned, kited, high, blitzed, annhilated, baked, blowed etc. -_-

Firstly all arguments point towards hydro producing worse buds, not better. That's not to say night and day differences, but the general agreement is that soil will produce better buds while hydro will produce more. At the end of the day you just go with what you are comfortable with. Soil is easy, and a simple hydro setup like DWC buckets is also easy, all depends on how you plan on growing and what you're looking for as the end result.

I would go soil if I were you. much more forgiving till you work out the kinks. what is the wattage on the ballast? great find. good luck!!

yeah i would start with soil, especially since that is what you already know and are comfortable with. if you are interested in hydro but dont want the hassle of setting it up and learning a new style then you could go with coco. it is kind of in between the two and gives great results. but really you should go with what you know and maybe experiment on a small scale later on.
