cfl is cheaper minimal heat.........LED is expensive but better results......... if you've got money then go LED.

i don't know about combining the two i've never really heard of it. but if your gonna do LED you should do a little research on the good ones and the cheap knock offs that don't give off good spectrum. if its a cheap LED its to good to be true.

Combining them does make for decent results, more light is always better. I supplement my LEDs with CFLs around the edges of the LED footprint.

And this is true about doing research on LEDs before deciding on which one to get. I spent a lot of money on bad panels before actually getting good ones.
