Ok...here's the deal... been shut down for a year or so and decided to start from scratch on the room and dust off the lights and supplies and rejoin the community once again :)
Supplies:
2x 400 w MH light kits in open hoods
Plain potting soil lol (mild nutes)
Foxfarm grow big
Superthrive
PH up & down
2x clone trays, heat mats, and thermostats

And of course the STRAIN : Bubblegum Kush Clones
1 week into 18/6
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now the room is an open canvas so my plan is to build it. Since prime size for a 400 MH is 3x3 (feet) I have enough material to build two areas that size or put both over one big lst or scrog plant in any size room up to specs ;)

Give me some ideas....... design and grow setup

haha wow dude doesn't sound like you need much help! but, you said all ideas welcome. here are my nooby ideas.

you have -WAY- more experience than me. but while researching for my first grow i've consistently seen the recommendation of 50 watts of light per square foot.
3'x3' is 9'sq, 400/9 is 44.444444... watts per square foot. but if you do 2.5'x2.5', that's 6.25'sq= 64 watts per square foot.
or, putting both lights in one box, two 400w in a 5'x3', 800w/15'sq= 53.3 watts per square foot. scrog that shiz. switchable digital ballasts, HPS for flower.

what up my fellow green thumb so heres what i would so first i would you already have a good strain witch in my eyes is the most inportint part of the hole thing cause with out good genetics no matter what or how good of a grower you are your going to end up with shit and then all your hard work was for nothing trust me ive been there then i would make sure the room that your growing in gets good air circulation and if you can have air going in and a way for it to get out then set your lights up where you want them . Then i would rap your room in Mylar for two reasons one to reflect light and two to help keep thing cleaner . Then i would start planting till the room was full and if your going to flower and veg in the same room i would only use your MH for veg and then switch to HPs for flower and since your a soil guy the rest is in what soil and nutes you use i wish you the best of luck and keep me posted on how it goes

So what would it be if I had 2 400 watt MH in a 4x4 room. That's what I built the closet to at the spot of the garden. just unsure of putting both lights in one spot. That would make 800 watts in a 4x4 area; I'm thinking two plants on a screen or lst . Maximize the space:) Probably gonna use five gallon buckets and only transplant from clone cup to bucket. I hate translating half way thru lol

a room 4x4 is 16 sq ft. 800(w) divided by 16(sq ft) is 50(watts per sq ft). its watts divided by the sq footage.

Ok so in this cabinet that is 8 ft. Tall, I will put a shelf 2 ft. From the bottom to sit my buckets on. There will be two plants in there that i would like to SCROG. What's the desired height from bucket to screen ? My guess would be about 1-2 ft. ? I'm a SOG grower if you look thru my signature , so I appreciate any help with this guys :)

You can use thermal camping blankets from walmart or off ebay for like a buck a piece. They are like 4 foot by 6 foot insulated mylar. Saves a lot of time and money and effort plus really easy to replace since you can panel it.

For what? The screen or reflection? I was gonna paint the inside flat white then eventually hang mylar.
