I've just been having a debate on another forum and I would like to get the general concensus as to how people feel on here.
Many of you are probably aware of the launch of Universal Seeds (http://www.universal-seeds.com). They used to be the old JSD wholesalers which have now moved into the retail market. The 'problem' that people seem to be bitching about is that the prices are too low and this is a reason to distrust the company.
My argument is that there are three things which are important when I buy seeds..
1) The seeds must be the real thing i.e the proper quality.
2) The package must be stealthily delivered in such as way that the seeds are not damaged or destroyed and
3) It must be a fair price.
The argument in the other forum is that Citral Kush on the Universal Seeds site is $56 while on the other sites it $107 (although I think somebody was looking at a different package size). U.S. states that their prices are cheaper because they don't charge the uk vat of 20% to non eu customers. It seems to be the common concensus that if something is cheap then there is something wrong with it.
Now, and this is the whole point of the thread..... do we ignore a company comming onto the market just because they are cheaper (they probably don't have the overheads of the bigger companies) or should they be given a chance to prove themselves?
My opinion is that people in forums like this have the power of life and death over seed companies. If a newbie comes along and doesn't deliver the products or delivery standards then it only takes a couple of comments in here to blast away that companies chances. Shouldn't this at least be worth being able to give the newbie a chance of taking a couple of small $20 orders so that we can see if they are any good or not?
And just for the record......I don't work for universal seeds... just a bit irritated with how people are behaving.
