Because of me living near the equator,i cannot easily access perlite, vermiculite, good liquid ferts, root hormone etc.I once travelled 1000 kms for 1000mls of rooting hormone and B1:eyesmoke:.
Im currently trying a new soil mix with my homemade coconut coir mix (fibre from inner outer shell,if you get me.)Has anyone made this before, any advice,it looks pretty simple but if theres anyone who knows anything would be great to know.Im making this new mix for my clones as im getting only 30% on average. This mixed with a good soil can greatly improve the aeration of the soil for clones.I do a lot of work with the conditions i have and have some great crops...but my clones......help....:joint:

Are you getting the coco yourself from the coconuts?

There is a process I believe before it is usable for growing. Not sure what it is. I grow in coco, but it is store bought, and it is ready to use right out of the bag.

I'm from an area where things were very limited in the gardening variety, I understand how frustrating it can be... I live in the US now.

Hi Beasto,
Yes its frustrating, but ive grown with all the shop bought stuff and its pretty interesting to see where they got their ideas from.
I collected about 5 coconuts and scraped the coir out,a tough job mate, ive cleaned it and mixed it 40%coir 60% soil, light B1 and h2020 spray.
cut clones tommorow and try the new mix.You clone in soil Beasto?

I start seedlings and clones in rock wool, then straight into the coco once they take root.

I grew in soil for the longest time, and wanted to try something a little less expensive, and less messy, and gave coco a try about a year ago. Will never use soil again unless growing outside.

Is there a way you can have rock wool and rooting gel shipped to where you are?

Im growing outside 12hrs then bringing mothers in for 6 hrs cfl.I grow well(i think) but ive heard of coir for cloning.mine is loose and stringy, straight from coconut, not compressed.Im thinking try soil /coir 50 50.If not back to water cloning, root well ,go into soil mix 30% survive..Ive tried man ive tried.Locals use 50 50 mix for young plants and seedlings.See what happens i guess.I could order rockwool i suppose, but people are saying go for coir with soil instead.I have rooting hormone with B1.cheers SB.
