Leaves look like leather

Well I have noticed a couple of plants that their leaves were starting to look like leather and this morning I am seeing more of it so wanted to ask wtf is going on. Lets see I ma using house and gardens nutes and will start week seven of flower in a couple of days. I can get better pics if these dont work for you and answer any ?'s you have to figure this out. I have no clue as to why this is going on. The fourth and last pics look the best to see what I mean

salt build-up

lock out of various types

Ok well lets figure it out I suppose.

I only feed three times a day. I am using the house and garden line of nutes and go by their nutrient calculator. As far as salt build up I am using the drip clean. What should I try to get rid of salt build up.

Root rot is a possibility I haven't check for rot. I have used the hygrozyme stuff the past two weeks for preventative measures. These plants (12 in all) have been taking 7 gallons of water a day.

It is a hydro system. I feed three times a day.

I called a friend and took him a root and leaf sample he said I have root rot and told me to hit it with hydrogen peroxide. Do a tank change and then some hygrozyme. And was told to feed twice a day till I get back on track, so I am going to take out the middle feed slot on my timer.

One thing I noticed since I the last time I trimmed the roots which has been awhile is that the roots are not growing like they did before. I dont know why other then I stopped using root accelerator.

This whole grow has been problems from the first day. No matter who you have in your corner it can still get messed up. Still learning stuff and hopefully the next one turns out better. Right now I will be happy to salvage this one and get to the next one.

Thanks for the replies and if anybody has any ideas that I should know about to get back on track I would appreciate it.

If things go good, which they havn't yet I dont think. Though they are still taking 7 gallons of water a day.

Will the leaves that look like leather come back to looking like they did before or will they stay that way?

most of the time leaves dont "come back" unless its a slight yellowing deficiency ...other than that no

honestly, your shits fucked. i like the leather look, but on a healthy plant, lol! i would salvage what i could and scrap the rest. its is way better to learn from your mistakes now, instead of later. so its kinda of good in a way. good luck whatever you decide to do, and i hope you see that you have learned a lesson. maybe the hard way. but better this way in the end. the leafs will come back, assuming they are not dry and brittle. if they are dry and brittle, there going to die and fall off. sorry man.

Hmm, I'm not so down on this grow. I think you are overfeeding them, but I would not give up on it yet. What are your water temps, and what medium are you in? Are you sure you have root rot? What do the roots feel like? (slimy or squeaky?)
I run a complete HG line, and depending on your medium, feeding them only 3 times a day will certainly spike your ec. But you may be in Rockwool, and all bets are off whit that shit. Got away from rockwool a long time ago and never looked back ha.
BTW, if you are in rockwool you need to increase your individual feed times to the point were it removes the build up, but not the feed intervals! Meassure your run off ec!!! and compare it to your res ec, they should be close to the same. Take the run off reading in the beginning of the feed cycle not the end!

I think I am going to ride this out till the end I have five weeks left of flowering and my new set is in the making and will be done in five weeks. I dont think I know what you meant by scrap the rest none of the plants are ready for harvest yet. This is my first grow and yes I have learned a lot so far number one is dont wait so long to go to the flower stage as that really messed me up. Basically all of my problems now are because I waited to long.

My water temps range from 71-75. I use hydroton as a medium. I am sure I have root rot as I took a sample over to a friend and he confirmed it but it wasnt like I didnt knowcompared to the nice white roots I was getting earlier in my grow. they are slimy and tan. What is an EC?

Ah shit, very unfortunate! 71-75f is too high, you will need a chiller!!! For right now (asap) you can try to use some h202 in order to salvage the grow. I didn't use it in a long time, so I forgot the dosing, but check on RIU, I think Al.B.Fuct talks about it in one of his stickies in the hydro thread.

"(50% strength) @ 1ml/litre every 3-4 days"

I ma useing hydrogen peroxide and I have been putting frozen bottles of water to try to keep it at the 70-72 mark but it does creep up on me.

Chillers cost up to 1100.00 from what I remember kind of out of my price range right now.

One thing I noticed is I certainly dont have that killer smell in my grow room when I open the door up anymore. Just a little bit but not like in the past.
Anyways I need to remember that as that is an indicator that my junk isnt producing the smell and growing like it should.

So I have been staying at the 5.7 - 5.9 ph range the past few days. Last night it went up to a 6.1 in the first feeding of the day today.

Is that an indicator that things are getting better??????????

I dont know if things are going good but they are still looking pretty good so far. These are some of my better buds, I still have a bunch of smaller ones that should of come in but are not.

Smells kind of like a hay smell to it now. So pissed. There is no killer smell to it any more not a lot anyways.
