Hi, basically as the title depicts I am ready to buy an AC unit... but am not to sure whats good and whats not and what size BTU? that I'll need..
I have a 2 plant DWC cab with a selection of 250w, 400w, & 600w HID lamps used (one at a time).. but my main prob is the INSANLY HOT WEATHER that were having... my grow room should 'SHOULD' be 26 oC but with this heat wave its between 33 oC and 37 oC and thats with my in-line Prima Clima fan on full...
My Res should be 18 - 20 oC... but thats 33 oC so bad times !! I looked into water chillers but they carrier a very large price tag..
So..
I am wanting to get an AC unit, my cabs in my Bedroom, we have no vents in the room, but have a few plastic windows (Double Glazed) if that matters ???
I want ultimately to cool both my cab and the room its in...But depending on cost it'd be nice to cool the whole upstairs (3 small rooms) ..
What is BTU ?? and how much do I need ??
Please reply asap cos I am going to buy the best one that some one on here surgests, cheers - STELTHY
you can take these other peoples info if you want.. but, fact is, if you want a QUALITY and reliable portable a/c unit.. that requires little to zero maintenance.. then you should look at the 'Commercial Cool' 11,500BTU unit. I got the black one. It comes with everything you need. It's an A/C unit, heater, dehumidifier and humidifier rolled all into one unit. Comes with a wireless remote.. and on the front of the unit, there's an blue lighted LCD screen readout.. that tells you the current indoor temp and time. It's a great unit.. and since I've been in the central U.S. during these INCREDIBLY HOT summer months (outdoor temps have been 100`F to 115`F for the past 4 to 5 weeks now.. EVERY SINGLE DAY.. with night temps only dipping into the mid 80's).. I've been using this thing every day, all day.. and it's still running like new man.
I paid $400.00 for mine.. but I'm telling ya.. its worth the money. It sits on caster-roller-wheels so you can move it anywhere you want it, at any given time. Just simply unplug the unit, and if your using the window kit for the exhaust tube, just simply twist the quick-disconnect to detach the tube from the window and the same for the rear of the unit.. and there ya go.. your able to roll the unit anywhere you want it. Only time you have to use the exhaust tube, is when your using the A/C function or the humidifier/dehumidifier functions. So, in the winter months.. you don't even have to worry about connecting/using the exhaust tube.
It's the best unit I've ever owned. Come to thing about it, its the portable unit I've ever owned.. and its the only one I'll ever buy. Very impressed with this unit.
and no, I'm not paid by 'Commercial Cool' or any of their partners.
peace.
EDIT: here are some pictures of mine, taken the day it arrived via UPS.
